My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Seconded, just ordered one from there as well.

    First all-grain brew question

Yes, I'm just going to leave it alone and let it be the best beer it can be under the circumstances. Math is Hard IPA will be bottled unmolested.

    First all-grain brew question

    That bitch be fermenting.

    First all-grain brew question

I had to have misread an OG reading at some point for it to come out at 1.70 preboil, 1.066 post and 1.052 after top-up. I guess it will remain as a mystery ABV beer no matter what course of action I take due to that. I really appreciate your effort in trying to unravel this ball of twine I've...

    First all-grain brew question

I'm pulling that number from BeerSmith via the pre-boil gravity that I measured: I adjusted for temperature when doing all hydrometer readings, so I don't know what's off. I think the consensus is to leave it alone, so I think I'm just going to do that. Renamed it to Math is Hard IPA.

    First all-grain brew question

I posted this in the Beginner forum and got absolutely no love, can someone here help me out with this? I just finished brewing an IPA (as my first all-grain brew!) via the BIAB method; nailed my OG thanks to 80.7% mash efficiency. However, I forgot to take boiloff into account and ended up...

    Adding sugar, post-fermentation question.

I just finished brewing an IPA (as my first all-grain brew!) via the BIAB method; nailed my OG thanks to 80.7% mash efficiency. However, I forgot to take boiloff into account and ended up with 4 gallons instead of 5 into the fermenter. As a result, my OG of 1.066 took a hit to an OG of ~1.052...

    First batch bottled!

It worked like an absolute dream. It helps to soak the tubing in hot water to make it a bit more malleable when attaching to the spigot/wand. Do it, you won't regret it in the least.

    First batch bottled!

Yeah, and the "attaching the bottling wand to the spigot with a piece of tubing trick" too; that combination made it so easy, it was by far the smoothest part of the entire operation. Definitely learned from some mistakes that will make bottling a lot easier next time.

    First batch bottled!

Went pretty smooth aside from one mishap. Lost about half a gallon due to incorrectly attaching the spigot to the bottling bucket, but I find it an acceptable loss as a Stupidity Tax to the beer gods. The setup: First six-pack bottled: The complete haul, 34 bottles + half gallon...

    Oh god.

I'm not going to label this batch, but I will have to with the next (that I'm going to brew today). I'm going to split the batch into two fermenters and pitch a different yeast in each, so labeling that batch will be necessary to differentiate between the two yeast strands.

    Oh god.

I think I may adopt a system like this if I don't just buy new bottles every time. I'm not as pissed as I was last night, so I can think about it rationally now and this makes sense. I will definitely let the bottles soak for a longer period of time should I go the bottle cleaning route again...

    Oh god.

Well, there's the problem. I soaked them for about an hour, I was scared of getting the dreaded OxiClean residue and had read an hour was sufficient. Some labels (specifically Bell's Two Hearted Ale, Magic Hat, Flying Dog) came off smooth like butter, but the Loose Cannon/Rogue labels clung as...
  14. RosettaSt0ned

    Oh god.

They'd been sitting for quite a while in anticipation of my first brew (which I neglected to do for a long time, another regret) and hadn't been rinsed after use, so I had to soak them to clean them. I thought to myself "might as well peel the labels while I'm doing this!" If I had a time...
  15. RosettaSt0ned

    Oh god.

Screw everything about cleaning bottles/peeling labels. OxiClean made it easier, but never again. Never. I will gladly pay for new bottles at my LHBS for each new batch. Never again. Never. I'm sorry, but after 2 hours and barely 40 bottles to show for it, I had to get that off my chest. Never.

This is pertinent to my interests.
