    Using a wind chill of -5 to chill wort

    I'd do what ere it takes to get yr system working the way youre used to. Tahtr would mean putting the hose somewhere warm until you plunck the innersion shiller in and them make a run for it. Slowly chilled wert ... a host of flavor and clarity issues. Come to think about it you could chill...

    Thermometer DISASTER!!!

    Lager Bottle Ferment

    With lager sitting so long on the secondary it will take a long time for the remaining yst to fully use up yr priming sugar. Dont go any lower (shock yst) and con sider that some German lager makers raise the temp of their frementing beer toward the last third of the ferm. At 50 I'd say 3-4...

    I have yet to find a reason to risk infection and waste beer just to take a reading. Seriously, my hydro broke a long time ago. I recently bought a new one and have used it once (got the OG not the TG).

    Mash Mixer that heats!

    how much mash are you using in this future contraption? And wassamatta with a stnls. kettle with perf false bottom/ spigot/ and stirring spoon? I brew 18# grain for a double batch in such a thing. Watch the oil/grease in any mechanism doesnt thin and fall into yr wert else you wont get a head.
