Using a pasta maker to mill grain.

Also the hopper thing is just making me crazy. I don't know what to make it out of, how I want it to look, what size I want it...How much grain will the 5G water jugs hold?

Using a pasta maker to mill grain.

Soo....I have found a ton of older electric motors in my basement, along with various size "wheels" for attaching belts to. I was hoping to do more of a direct drive, but I really don't know too much about any of this yet. Checking the motors, they seem to be either about 3100RPM or 1200RPM. I'm...

    I'm Thinking... 09/09/09 Barleywine

It's in the keg...now to not drink it!

Well, if you're someone who will actually make pasta, buy a cheap one for your grain. A good pasta machine will be something you can pass on to your children. But if it's going into your cupboard to be used a few times a year, get that thing knurled and grind away!

The End All, Do all, Be All Capper/Corker

I bet this would be a breeze with a cheap style wing corker like this one you would just have to shove it in as far as you wanted then let go, right? I've never done a belgian in bottles like this, I wonder if it would be good for some barleywine?

    My Three Tier Build Project

LOL that thing on top of my OLD HLT (!) is the top to a tiki torch. They're mounted around my deck and that one just happened to line up perfectly. Sorry for the confusion!

How to Remove a Miller Threaded Keg Valve (not retained by a spiral ring)

Or someone to just show up and do it for me...I'm not making this damn thing! I wish I could though...I guess it's just right to the dremel for me...

    Sanke diptube sight glass protector

You're talking about painting on the actual sight glass, right? I don't know it might work. I'm talking of painting the metal tube behind it...

    My new sightglass/thermometer contraption.

I'm not concerned about wasting the 2G of water in the deadspace of the HLT. I'll use it for cleaning. I think I'm going to do this. Now to mark my protector... Beerthirty, if you fill your hlt through your dip tube, wouldn't that eliminate the air pocket? Lil Sparky - In case you didn't...

    My new sightglass/thermometer contraption.

So quick problem. I've got my dip tube installed on the ball valve that allows me to drain all but a scant 1/2 pint of liquid from my kettle. However, with this setup, my sight glass does not come into play until 19Q (4 3/4G) in. I'm thinking I'll just remove the dip tube and allow it to drain...

    My new sightglass/thermometer contraption.

Yeah I've seen those, and similar. I've tried those compression fittings with the stem thermometers and was not happy. So now I can thread my threaded thermometer right in. Should have it tomorrow or Monday so I'll update full finished project then.

Want to roll on a Gulden Draak type brew

So I went through all of this trouble, made this beer (which came out pretty good) and decided that due mostly to a lack of bottles and an overabundance of kegs, this would be my first kegged beer. So I read up a bit, set my regulator to about 11 psi, and let er rip. I shook it every day...

    My Three Tier Build Project

Here it is in it's latest brew day. I've built a little stand for the propane tank and clamped the gas manifold in with plastic pipe clamps (the little bit of flexibility from the plastic made things a bit easier). Next up are wind shields for the burners, brewing on a windy day seems to waste...

    My new sightglass/thermometer contraption.

Well here it is...It's been a bit of time in the planning and actually pulling the trigger. I didn't want my sightglass and thermometer to be in different places on my keggle anymore. See my stand if you want to know why. So I invented this little guy. It replaces those compression fittings you...

    Sanke diptube sight glass protector

I just fabricated mine tonight. Not a dip tube, but another piece of thin tubing I had laying around. My thoughts on the target level markers (zip ties) was to grab a few 1/2" od ORings and have them available for marking targets. Now if I could only find singles in different colors, that...

Using a pasta maker to mill grain.

So I think that I need to texture my rollers more...I ran a pound of grain through to finish the bill for my Imperial Brown Ale and I had to apply a bit of pressure to the top of the grain to get it to feed through properly. I'll more than likely be going the drill bit route as well as I've...
