My kegging kit came today :)

Dude, I'm right with ya! I've had my kegconnection gear for about a week, just got my CO2 yesterday, and am waiting until next weekend to take my Irish Stout off the trub. In the interest of go-big-or-go-home, I also picked up a used fridge from craigslist and keggerated it. Oh yeah! :rockin:

How long will crushed grain last

I think she said a few months stored in a sealed bag in her dry and cool basement. So yeah, it was under some great conditions, but still. As long as it's protected, cool, and dry, it should be fine.

How long will crushed grain last

Give it a shot. I recently asked this of the woman at my LHBS. She said as an experiment once they cleaned out some ooooold crushed stuff from the store, brewed with it, and could barely tell the difference. Go for it and let us know how it turns out.

    First Mead

My first ever mead recipie I did in a growler with 2# local honey, water, and yeast, plus an airlock. Pitched, waited, waited, racked, waited waited, bottled, refrigerated for a month, and drank. My friends called it Sake Mead, it was a wee strong, but really, really good. I say try plain...

Wait, so there was sediment on TOP of the brew? It sounds like you are saying you had a layer of something on top of the beer that you had to break through to get TO the beer... am I reading that right?

    My first batch and results

The fridge will really slow down any of the clean up the yeasties might be doing. It's your call. Leave it in the fridge (and thus be tempted to drink it anyway) or take it out and let the little buggers do their job for a few weeks.... like, 4.
