What are my options for going electric?

If you have a 30A breaker you should be ok. 2000W/120V~16.5A, far below the limit of 30A. The fridge will not be a problem, it's not a heavy consumer of current, and you are still well within limits. In my case I run 3000W at 240V with a 16A circuit w/o trouble, and I have two fridges at home...

    Ginger Ale (kegged)

Cheers, Did this for our annual Spanish homebrewer meeting (220 people from all around the country) and it was a great success! The only comment was a sulphurous smell which, while not strong, was far from agreeable. The only difference with this recipe is that I carbonated with yeast, not...

New eBIAB build, questions about controls

What did Auberins base its suggestion on? I understand the PID values are very dependent on your specific equipment and procedures. I used this method to calibrate my PID (from here http://sestosd1s.blogspot.com.es/2015/04/secret-sestos-d1s-manual-after-having.html). Yes, I know, it's Sestos...

Any worse beer destination than Mexico?

Haven't read all the thread, but Mexico has actually very good craft beer. I admit can't remember the brands, but I've been there quite a few times and managed to found all you can think of (APA, IPA, porter, milk stout,...) brewed by small companies from Mexico DF, Guadalajara, and all around...

    Raspberry Pints April Fools Early

I saw a similar set-up in a friend's HB bar. I prompted him thinking it was another cool raspberry-Pu setup... Man, what a disappointment when I realized it was a PowerPoint! :) A hosted idea is actually a good one, especially for HB pubs that serve commercial beers whose profile could be...

New eBIAB build, questions about controls

Great build! I had cork and switched to silicone. Far better choice IMHO, especially if there are risks of wort spillage, as cork becomes so sticky and hard to remove. Out of curiosity, why do you put a 90 degree turn in your sensor instead of having it in-line? That is, the entry in front of...

I Stuck My Whole Arm in the Fermenter ...

Been there, done that, drunk it. No worries. In my case it was a badly tightened faucet. Cheers.

Fotek SSR's are not THAT bad...

Thanks. Good to know about the Mager. I understand brewtroller.com is a U.S.-oriented site. Do you have by any chance shipping-to-Europe friendly rates? Otherwise, do you know of any similar reliable source this side of the pond? Cheers!

Fotek SSR's are not THAT bad...

Someone mentioned before that ""Mager" makes them and rebrands them for auber... They also appear to sell them under other name brands like "Berme" as well.". Have there been counterfeit problems with Mager as well? Or is this a problem limited to Fotek? I'm considering buying the other brand...

am i in the wrong or the right? family probs

Asian culture is not that much about sharing as about obligation - toward parents, other family members, etc. Latin culture is more about sharing. It is a difficult problem, and one you will not solve unless your wife is on board. She is actually the one legitimate enough (at least in their...

Single vessel ebiab w no pump

I've got a 70L BiaB pot with two resistances - 2500W and 3000W low density. I do recirculate for mashing but not when I get to the boil, where I use full power. I've never had a scorched wort problem, and I've brewed many times with it.

Is a welded keg a problem?

I managed to change most of the cornis but one, so I'm still looking for the European equivalent of the Bar Keepers Friend unfortunately.

large batch of ginger ale - questions

If those bugs work like the beer yeast, lactose might be a good alternative to consider due to its unfermentability. Good luck.

Is a welded keg a problem?

I don't think we have the "Bar Keepers Friend" brand, but we have enough bars and bar tenders to be able to find something similar based on oxalic acid. I just have to pay a bit more attention next time I go to do some shopping :mug: I'll try to post back what I've used for others to get...

Is a welded keg a problem?

Thanks for your answers, message received loud and clear! For us non-Yanks, "Bar Keepers Friend" is a powdered cleaning product that uses oxalic acid as its primary active ingredient. For those looking for a sustitutive cleaner in Europe, it is generally used for stainless steel cleansers and...

Is a welded keg a problem?

Hi there, I've moved the images to another server, and now hopefully they can be seen. Sorry for the hassle, I've been struggling a bit to share them. The weldings are on the inside, the welding length is around 1cm. Now that the images can be seen, do you still believe that even the...

Is a welded keg a problem?

Come on, I can not believe that no one on this great forum can at least give me some idea of what problems I might have :mug: Thanks!

Is a welded keg a problem?

Cheers, I recently bought a few pin-lock corni kegs to a fellow homebrewer. Unfortunately, while cleaning them I saw some of them were welded (beginner mistake, I should have checked that). All cornis had been used with syrop apparently without problems (they were still sticky). I would like...

    Camlock - type C

Cheers, This might sound like a dumb question, but in your experience, do all your female 1/2'' camlocks (Type B, C, etc.) have two arms? Or have you found camlocks with only 1 arm? A company from here sent me 1-arm camlocks and I was really surprised about this. I don't like them, so I am...
