Hey guys. I brewed this on Thursday the 4th and used two vials of WLP500 with no starter (all ingredients came from AHS so should be fresh). Aerated the wort well before pitching (pitch temp was 65). Still no active fermentation as of today, 36 hours later. Any tips on getting this bad boy...

Here is Nilo's #8 compared to an actual Blue Moon. Blue Moon on the left (not much head left due to time needed to get camera) and Nilo's #8 on the right. Pretty close, though taste is a bit different. I actually like Nilo's better than Blue Moon. It's spicier.

The Pale Ale lasted about 2 weeks. Very good. (Before anyone notices, yes I had a boil over :). My daughter had my attention then when I looked over it was boiling over.). Nothing like drinking a home brew while home brewing.

Question for a newbie. Is the outside girding plate supposed to spin when rotating? Or should it be tight enough so that does not spin.

How strong is the "lemon-lime" flavor is everyone getting? I tasted after about a week and a half, and can hardly taste any lemon-lime. Maybe it will be different after carbing.

I haven't got a second krausen either. Also, my air lock stopped bubbling only three days into fermentation (65F). Just remember that just because the air lock is bubbling, doesn't mean nothing is going on.

I made my first purchase at Grain to Glass. They don't have the Hefe yeast we need for this recipe but they do have that at my LHBS. Thanks folks!

Anyone finding anywhere online that has both Sorachi Ace and Motueka hops? I see that Midwest has them but if I'm going to order the hops online (my LHBS doesn't carry thame) I would like to get the grains there too. Midwest hits me in the head for shipping. I wish AHS carried both.

Thanks for the recipe! Maybe dumb question, but should I aerate when I add the second yeast, or is this yeast's only job to eat the sugar from the orangeade? Never done a dual yeast fermentation. Thanks!

Hey Guys, I'm looking for a way to lock my faucet on my kegerator. On Saturday (brew day) my lovely daughter, who is two years old, pulled the faucet THREE times while I was outside for just a few minutes at a time. :mad: Let me know if you guys have used locks and what you think about...

I did. She doesn't fuss about all the home brewing stuff that I purchase and doesn't mind when/what I brew so that was one of the reasons I told her she was awesome!

That's awesome! I just read this to my wife, who is pregnant, and she says "you don't think I'm awesome?" Thought that was funny.
