How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

2739 + 6 = 2745 I made a 6 gallon batch tonight in my new 6 gallon BB. 5 gallons of Meijer juice and 1 gallon of Walgreens juice. Cote des Blanc yeast + 6tsp nutrient and 2.5 lbs of dextrose.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I just bought a 6 gallon BB and plan on doing a standard 5 gallon batch. I do have a question though. I bought the same carboy cap and 3 piece airlock that Ed has. Does anyone have a tip for getting the airlock inserted into the cap? It seems that the cap is rather stiff and I don't want to...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Wow, after two weeks of reading I actually made it though 220 pages from start to finish. I have already purchased my juice and dextrose and my better bottle and yeast is supposed to arrive tomorrow. This thread is long..... waaaaay too long. Not because Apfelwein should not be this...

    Charcoal or Propane?

Hey, if you are happy with it, nothing else matters. :)

    Charcoal or Propane?

Per pound, lump is more expensive than briquettes, but I still buy it. Also, +1 on the chimney starter. No lighter fluid and then when they are ready you can pour the coals where you want them. I have always used my chimney right on the coal rack in the grill. That way I don't have to...

    Charcoal or Propane?

Lump Charcoal for me in my grill / smoker. I will go with briquettes if I am in a pinch. I have had propane in the past and it is easier and faster, but there is just something about charcoal that can't be beat. I am a master on my grill, with my charcoal, but if you were to switch either of...

    Tron's Pretzel Things

I'm glad to hear that you like them. I guess I should have been a little more descriptive as to which ranch mix I use. I get Hidden Valley Ranch "Salad Dressing & Seasoning Mix" that comes in 1oz packets. It looks like this: So, I think you got the right stuff, I just usually use two...

    Tron's Pretzel Things

Yeah, I don't usually measure most of the ingredients out either but I have been asked for the recipe a few times so I made measurements during one batch and wrote them down. This recipe can easily be changed up. I have thought about adding some Cheez-Its and a few other things that...

    yet another apfelwein question

102 pages? Last I knew it was 217 pages. Yes, you can use cane sugar as others have had success doing. I have not tried it but it is supposed to add more of a "cidery" flavor, which in this case would be a good thing.

    Tron's Pretzel Things

Great ! Let me know what you think. I have heard of smoked paprika before, but have never tried it. I think I will put it on my shopping list. Here is a picture of the finished product on a piece of my fine china:

    Tron's Pretzel Things

Here is my favorite recipe for a salty, spicy garlicy snack that goes well with a homebrew. I have been working on this recipe for a while and think I have it right where I want it. I never really took the time to name them, but after my co-workers tried them, they kept stopping by my office...

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

Nothing to add to the count yet because I am still waiting for my better bottles and yeast to arrive, but will be adding soon. In the mean time, a fun fact: ~40 apples = 1 gallon of juice. That means that so far there have been 103,800 apples consumed in the making of EdWort's Apfelwein. At...

    Water bottle vs. Better bottle

I am curious as to the differences (if any) between a better bottle and the plastic bottles used for office water coolers. The water cooler bottles are a lot less expensive and available in my area, unlike better bottles.
