American Wheat Beer Gumballhead inspired WPA

So I just opened a bottle of mine after 1 week. I know early but I had to try it after it smelled so good. I was quite disappointed, it seemed to have a pretty sour taste to it, so I'm not sure if I'm just jumping the gun, or something is wrong with the batch. I'll try another bottle in a week...

    My crack at a keezer.

looks awesome, did you just replace the lid with the wood and then add weather stripping to seal it?

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

I think this is it, but is this: Briess Pilsen Extra Light 3-Lbs (http://www.farmhousebrewingsupply.com/briess-pilsen-extra-light-3-lbs/) The same as the extra light DME? the pilsen part is throwing me off

    Replacing chest freezer lid?

Yeah that would be my plan, insulate it and weather strip

    Replacing chest freezer lid?

Yeah thats what i figured. I think im going to look into replacing the freezer lid and drilling through it so that it can have the coffin style without drilling through the lid. Unless i can find a cheap chest freezer i dont mind destroying

    Replacing chest freezer lid?

Well with coffin on the top, don't most drill through the lid to get the lines in the coffin? or do they go out the back of the collar and then up to the coffin?

    Replacing chest freezer lid?

So i've been doing some research on creating a keezer with a 7.0 chest freezer. How hard would it be to just replace the lid with a wooden one that way i dont have to drill through the actual lid. Anyone know how hard that would be? Also how would i go about adding a seal like the original...

    Weissbier Simple Hefeweizen

I plan on brewing this soon, hopefully this weekend. I wanna do a split batch, half regular with the recipe and half with a fruit extract flavoring. Thinking of maybe a blackberry, think that will work well? or should i go with something more suited for a hefe like an orage extract?

American Wheat Beer Gumballhead inspired WPA

I just brewed this the other day with the reviews i've read. Pulled the dry hops after 9 days and it still in the ferm as its currently sitting at 1.020, gonna check next week if it goes down to about 1.016. Had to taste it as it smelled awesome when i opened the fermenter. its a bit watery...

Jalapeno beer - citra or cream ale?

I did read through that, that looks interesting as well, might try something similar when i step up to all grain. I feel that either could work well, but for some reason i wanna lean towards the IPA. Think the citra though would take the jalapeno flavor out? I do want a bit of heat on the...

Jalapeno beer - citra or cream ale?

hi everyone - im looking at making a jalapeno ale, preferably an IPA or similar. I'm fairly new to the brewing so i think an citra IPA or cream ale kit would work well and then maybe dry-hop the jalapenos in secondary. anyone think this would work well? I did read a lot about this and it...

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

I just bottled last night. Very sweet smell of strawberries, had to taste a bit, had a very wine-esque taste to it. Anyone else have similar before bottling? hoping that it just needs a bit of time to "beer-up" persay.

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

Looking forward to doing this as possibly my next brew. Does anyone know where to get 1lb of citra hop pellets? i can seem to find them in bulk and would prefer that since im using almost 9oz this batch and IPAs will be brewed regularly. thanks

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

I just racked off the berries into tertiary. Smelled amazing, took a quick sample and its quite tart, almost wine esque. I know most people mentioned the tartness, but that will start to fade once it sits around for a bit then gets bottled im assuming. cant wait for it to finish

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

looks good, how long did you leave on the berries for?

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

when you guys rack off the strawberries, do you squeeze or press the berries a bit to get the beer that is soaked in them out? i feel like he berries are going to take a lot of the beer out and wonder if doing that a bit is a good idea to get the most beer as possible
  17. S

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

Yeah thats my plan, about 7 days on berries then into territiary until fermentation is fully complete.

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

i just racked onto the strawberries after 10 days. OG was 1.020. compared to my first brew (belgain wheat) there was very very little krauzen, a lot more sediment though in the primary. I think im gonna leave it on the secondary for about a week, then rack onto tertiary for about another 10-14...

    Fruit Beer Succulent Strawberry Blonde

haha you were right, i got home from work, checked it, nice layer of krausen on the top, and it looks like the OG dropped a bit. and i mean a very slight bit. Gonna let it hang out for a couple days before i even open it anymore, i'll watch for bubbling as well. Think i safe to let it go the...
