    Vegas Hofbrau

It's in the NYNY. It's not a bad place, what else do you expect from a casino bar? It's as good as most of the others.

    Help! Fermentation will not start

Well, you're going to have some lag time w/o making a starter. Also, a truck ride in the middle of summer very well could have killed all/most/part of the yeast. Give it some more time, then add more yeast.

    Rehydrating Yeast

I wasn't talking about rehydration, I was talking about actually making a starter. :ban:

Is it wrong to like a commercial beer?

Come up to Dallas, we have a few good English pubs (Londoner etc.), and the Flying Saucer. On topic: Picked up a 6 pack of Shiner Hefe last night. Forgot how much I like that beer on a 106 degree day! Stupid summer....

    Rehydrating Yeast

If you're worried about cell count, just pitch two packets of dried yeast. Starters are mainly used with liquid yeasts.

    Is it ready to bottle

Honestly, I would probably wait. The general rule is 1 week primary, 2 week secondary before bottling. 5 days is pretty quick, and it seems like you're still getting some activity. Another general rule is to take gravity readings daily until the gravity doesn't change for 3 consecutive days...

    killed yeast

What sort of yeast did you use? 20 mins is hardly time to get visible activity in a starter.....

    Foaming while bottling

That's the only thing causing the foaming. That's why all you need to do is squeeze the tubing somehow to reduce that initial flow ;)

    Foaming while bottling

The way to get rid of the foam is to squeeze the tubing to reduce the flow of the beer when you first put the bottling wand against the bottom of the bottle. Once the beer has filled up 1/4 of the bottle, release the pressure on the hose and let it flow freely. Problem solved ;)

    Mini-Keg for Cask Conditioned?

I think he has the minikegs on this page (not the Tap-a-Draft) w/o the CO2 and picnic tap. http://northernbrewer.com/mini-kegs.html

    Possible to prime in carboy?

Foaming can be eliminated by simply squeezing the tubing in order to reduce the liquid flow when you're first filling each bottle. You can easily get the last couple of inches out. Just find something to wedge under the bucket to lean it over slightly. As for as the leaking goes, maybe...

    iodophor sanitizer black??

I'd call it more a dark brown, like any iodine solution. You don't need to use much at all, so if you're getting that noticeable amount of discoloration, you're probably just using too much. Yes, it's a no-rinse sanitizer. It really doesn't leave any residue behind.

    Kegs lead to Drunkeness

I don't have kegs, but my closest comparison is how I drink quite a bit more when we get pitchers out with friends. Not having to wait until the waitress comes back in order to get a refill makes me drink much faster :drunk:

taste test w/pics, 1 week after bottling

That's good carbonation for only one week. Like Mysterio said, it's gonna taste much better in about 2 weeks and even better in a couple of months.
