    Pipe smoking, a lost art.

I bet in KY you'll have better luck than in Minnesota. I think the aging is the tricky part. I'm looking into it. I'll probably have to wait till June for our effing snow to melt. Sent from my SPH-D710 using Home Brew mobile app

    Pipe smoking, a lost art.

Sorry, that wasn't very clear. On Ebay tins of tobacco are sold with disclaimers that state the tobacco is not meant to be smoked, that they are selling the tins for the collection value. It seems to be a way to work around ATF rules. I probably wouldn't smoke the antique tobacco, but the newer...

    Pipe smoking, a lost art.

I talked to my local tobacconist about the disclaimers on sealed tobacco tins, so I'll be ordering some aged tobacco soon. He mentioned that tobacco used to be grown in Minnesota. I'm going to give it a shot, and see if i have any luck curing it. Also going to order some presbyterian mix. Sent...

What I did for beer today

I didn't do much today. I added some nutrient to a black currant cider that was fermenting pretty well. When the nutrient hit the foam it was like one of those lava science projects. I was so surprised I just stared at it, a purple fountain rising majestically from my carboy. Mesmerizing as...

What I did for beer today

Roasted jalapenos really seem to work well. I made a jalapeno ale, added them end of boil and in secondary. It was perfect.

Rogue Good Chit Pilsner Clone, Need suggestions

Hey red131. I was wondering if you brewed both variations and how they turned out. I'm going to try and sneak another pilsner in, I lager in my tuck under garage in winter. I just had a Good Chit, its so good I need a keg of it.

    Composing spent grains

My mostly spent grain compost pile was smelling soooo bad I had to move it to spare my neighbors. I wasn't turning often it or putting enough soil in it. Also it hard to turn it when its -20. I use it to feed my hops, which seems fitting. I have 2 nice sized gardens, composting is really good...

    I think I have a brewing problem

I know how you feel. I brewed once a week for almost two years (with a bunch of different friends, so we split 5 gal batches). My only regret is that I didn't all grain brew sooner, I waited till my 20th or so. Sounds like your on the right track with your partial. Your gonna have fun with this...

Low on $. Wort chiller or stir plate?

I cast my vote for a chiller. You can always gently stir your yeast starters by hand. Swirl the botlle around, been doing that for 5 years.

    Pipe smoking, a lost art.

I just found this thread and I am "stoked". I used to manage a tobacco shop and had access to a lot of great pipes and tobacco, and cigars. Man do I miss that. I got to smoke a pipe everyday and get paid to do it, and occasionally get some work done. All the pipe tobacco I could smoke and a...
