    my 190# mastiff gets them out of the yard quick. When he's barking at the sliding door, you just egg him on for a second then let him charge out. Watching the cat try to jump the privacy fence is amusing.

    I don't worry about the cash, home brew is relatively cheap, and they are all eager to help brew more. I didn't turn away donations when I bought the 1/2bbl of DFH 90minute, but didn't care if I didn't got them either. It's all about the fun with friends. -Eric

    I have been fly sparging, but haven't been monitoring pH. I guess I need to do some more reading. When the pH drifts, am I better off topping off with water, or continue sparging until desired volume is achieved regardless of pH. I would think the latter.

    Thanks for the Responses. I did already make the yardstick. But, I have been not fully allowing the sparge to completely drain. I have been getting the preboil volume I wanted in the kettle and moving on. Should I be completely draining the sparge, then reducing the volume? Evaporation...

    You guys have it all wrong. Go spec and price out your dream setup (within reason). Value the current setup at double that estimate. Let her have the current gear but demand half the value back. Buy dream setup.
