Wrong stc-1000 - can it work?

Dang. Well, I've got it working in cooling mode so at least it is keeping my fermentation stable.

Wrong stc-1000 - can it work?

I just realized I got a bum stc-1000 and wondering if I can still get it to work, maybe by soldering to existing solder points and reflashing software. There's a cout2 pair of pins. Attached is a pic, I hope.

American IPA Bee Cave Brewery IPA

I'm going to attempt my first all-grain with this recipe and I thought I would go for broke with a 11 gal. batch. Have John Palmer's book but not figuring a few things out, like his sparge calcs. I've read on the beginner forum to figure .5 gals per pound of grain for sparge, so with 22# pale...

Is this 20 gallon kettle worth a new bottom?

There is prime in Alaska fearwig. It is true that some things that say prime don't ship here, but many do. I bought a ceramic toilet for the house and a large, 13" DeWalt planer on free shipping. Main problem where we are is it can take up to a month - 3 weeks anyway. So it is a crap shoot.. I...

Is this 20 gallon kettle worth a new bottom?

SpikeBrewing that's some nice welding going on there. Good looking product. Right now I'm just getting back to brewing and have set up a rectangular cooler for mashing, but would like to get away from plastic just because. Hence thinking about another pot or keggle. But I'm sure the planter is...

Is this 20 gallon kettle worth a new bottom?

I could post a pic if I remember to grab one tomorrow. The bottom is pretty gone though - someone suggested a planter. Might be best idea. /jim

Is this 20 gallon kettle worth a new bottom?

You're probably right.. I googled for a sheet of 20 x 20" stainless and you could probably get a new pot for that price, adding on for a welder or for getting gas for mig welding. Shame, it is a wonderfully heavy pot.

Is this 20 gallon kettle worth a new bottom?

I have an 18" tall by 18" diameter stainless kettle I had used for cooking fish in for my dog team back in the 80's and early 90's. (It was an old kettle then). Since then it has sat outside and the bottom finally blew out.. stainless but it looks like it rusted and spalled through. The sides...

advice needed for this stir plate

Thanks Prandlesc, I'll go with it then. I haven't secured the fan yet in the video or cleaned up the wiring, so that will all be a bit better than shown.

advice needed for this stir plate

I built one based on plans seen somewhere that included the Radio Shack rheostat that is 25 ohm 3 watt. The slowest speed I can dial in with the rheostat makes the vortex reach the stir stick occasionally. I shot a video of it: http://youtu.be/RKV4gqh5pWo It could be that it is no problem but...

Ideas to fix up my brew keg drain?

Thanks Bobby, It is half inch, so I am going to see how it drains with a 1/2" O.D. copper tube (3/8" I.D.) driven into it friction fit. Fairly tight. So I drove a short piece in and found a copper union (or rather sleeve) that is probably made for 3/8" copper pipe (if there is such a thing) but...

Ideas to fix up my brew keg drain?

I've thought about putting a drop tube inside my kettle to help filter loose hops and see that I don't have any threads with which to work. It is just a .5" nipple cut off about 1/4" into the pot. I was wondering what great ideas some of you may have before I go look at putting in a new port -...
