What to do with failed brew

So I just jumped back into brewing after a long dry spell - several years. I just didn't take to the long brew days with my 3 vessel system.. so decided to go BIAB to perhaps cut the time required, and remodeled my system for that. I have been using a rectangular cooler (big enough for easy 10...

    BIAB in Keggle 10 gallon

I'm thinking of converting a keg already set up with electric heat and was looking around at false bottoms.. found some here: Mash Tuns, Hot Liquor Tanks & Accessories | MoreBeer as well as other outlets.

What beer/homebrew blogs/magazines do you read?

That's about true with me as well. I enjoyed BYO for awhile, but don't have any subscriptions going now.

android app to say craft vs. corporate?

Wondering if there is a phone app that lets users know if a craft beer has been bought by corporate brewers that folks use? I was using the app RateBeer but it doesn't seem to work well for me anymore and it didn't really say who owners were, I don't think. thx, JD

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

I thought I was being pretty cheap when I took a garage door opener and hooked it up after having used a wood lathe motor (cheap) for a couple grinds (pain to set up). But I dumped a bunch of grain in it and went to fire up the HLT. When I came back I smelled smoke - I had melted down the nylon...

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

Aleworks does insist they work with the 3 roller MM. I have one of those mills so contacted the owner and he said people use his motor with the 3 roller mill. (Unless he or I totally misunderstood the other). Would like to know real world use from somebody. /jd

Tundra Stick Stout - advice- labrador tea

Back in the late '90's I made a stout using Labrador Tea: I live up in Alaska north of 64.5 degrees so assume Rhododendron tomentosum (Northern Labrador tea, previously Ledum palustre) Beware some possible side effects if using it. On this page...

Brewing on the Edge of the World: Canada's Arctic - Part II

I thought I had it hard up here at 64.5 degrees north in Nome, AK. Basically shipping costs, lack of local stock, high energy cost (half of yours) and running a hose for water to the neighbors (challenging at sub-zero temps) - but I'll not complain. Seems I've got it pretty danged easy...

Cheap Sanke Keg fermenter Conversion kit (Completed!)

I've considered that as well, although I'm thinking of building a conical out of a big old pot I have and the total volume might be 20 or more gallons. And I only do 10 gal. batches. I also have converted a sanke keg and might do 10 and even 5 gallon batches in that. I think the headspace is...

What are you doing instead of brewing this weekend?

apologies for the off topic? but what the heck - here we go: Yep, I built it in 1993 and '94 with a buddy. Didn't finish it, but launched it to get our foot in the door in a small boat king crab fishery. Plan was after the season to pull it and finish it out. The settlement was a joke. The...
