    Leaking CO2 valve

There's an idea! Haven't seen any youtubes about doing that.. you need to get it in the algorithm. I may look around for something similar.. the only time I tried ordering something on aliexpress.. I never got the order and they wouldn't compensate me for it - tracking only would say it made it...

    Leaking CO2 valve

There's no welding shops per se - I did ask the most well known welder in town (works for the city powerhouse) and he didn't think of any local source - but the local hardware store rents full 100 lb bottles. I still need to see if I can work something out with him, but other brewers (I only...

    Leaking CO2 valve

I recently watched one youtube video dealing with something about brewing and then the algorithm started shoving all sorts of brewing videos at me.. so I found a few good ones I could use on reducing my CO2 purchases such as what you (@IslandLizard ) suggest. I may even try fermenting in the...

    Leaking CO2 valve

Thanks for that.. gives me an idea what to look for when I open it up.

    Leaking CO2 valve

As I was carbonating my kegs I noticed a hissing sound and when I investigated, I could feel a breeze coming from this black gas valve (with green label). Seemed to be coming from around the adjustment screw. Are these things repairable? I haven't taken it apart yet.. maybe a bad o-ring or...

Large Equipment: Where does it live?

Still refining things in the basement, but it is serviceable. I did have a 3 vessel system going with the vent as in first pic. The sink was on the opposite wall out of the picture so the boil kettle was wheeled over for cooling and whatever. Then I went BIAB recently and now it is all at the...

    Mill motorization

Being cheap I first tried (after using a 1/2 drill for awhile) using a spare garage door opener motor.. worked great, until the plastic gear on the drive stripped out. Just needed a better grade gear, which I didn't have. Had forward and reverse of course, as well as a remote if there was a use...

What to do with failed brew

Oh wow- thanks much for the offer. But I have tried snails.. not really my cup of tea. I think it is a learned taste, at least for me. I appreciate your thoughts on beer and drinking - I'm aging out now so - much more than one beer in a day and I'm not feeling so great. I still manage a couple...

What to do with failed brew

What to do with failed brew

That's marvelous for you. Nothing I subscribe to though.

What to do with failed brew

What to do with failed brew

Just a follow up: kegged it! Final gravity 1.012 and tastes fine. Not my best work maybe but will be drinkable. Thanks for all the advice.. the amylase did the trick.

What to do with failed brew

Could give it a try. There is a small bit of bubbling within the carboy at present. I'm happy with any progress.

What to do with failed brew

And the recipe was based on Bee Cave Brewery's Robust Porter, found here on homebrewtalk.

What to do with failed brew

Just added some amylase yesterday. So far nothing.. Haven't tested gravity lately. Tastes ok first time I tried several days ago.. will taste again. I suspect I'll just keg and go with it after sitting a few more days.. I'm no connoisseur and probably the only one drinking it. Though the cooking...

What to do with failed brew

Thanks for that idea. I see Morebeer has some.. problem is that I'm about as far away from most beer supply outlets as can be and still be in the US. (NW Alaska - off the road system). So it would take maybe 5-7 days at best to ship here. Perhaps that wouldn't be a problem.. could just let the...

What to do with failed brew
