    What are you drinking now?

Big beer needs a big glass. Storm Chaser by local Banded Peak Brewing. With all the rain and thunderstorms we're having lately, this seemed appropriate. I wouldn't exactly call this a 'juicy' hazy IPA, more on the bitter side with a little bit of citrus. Very boozy 8.7% as well, but...

    What are you drinking now?

A Lovely Bunch NEIPA by Born Brewing Co. Very bright and full of coconut flavour from the Sabro hops. Wow! One of the best beers I've had in a long time. Mmmmm. Cheers! 😋:mug:

    What are you drinking now?

Couple of local brews during this week of crazy orders for regular clients and absolutely stupid fly-fishing customers. 🙄 ( Yes, you need to pay for a new rod section, no, running over the rod isn't covered under our Manufacturer's Warranty...) Anyhoo, I think my taste/smell is coming back! I...

Love the Ren & Stimpy glass, @Hoppy2bmerry ! "Stimpy! Look what they did to my arm!?" 😆

    What are you drinking now?

Collective Arts Brewing Cherry Pie Sour. Wait...wait...hey I can smell it! Sour cherries and crust! My taste is still effed, but smell is coming back. Woohoo!! Then a Tangerine Cherry Imperial sour, from Zero Issue Brewing. Getting more of the tangerine in this now...hmmm maybe my taste...

    What are you drinking now?

Triple Berry Sour by local Eighty-Eight Brewing. All I can taste is the astringency of the berries and I can only get a skunky/weed smell from the beer. Sigh, stupid Covid. 🙄 Good thing it's 6.9% 😆 Oh well, hopefully I'll be noticing the smaller nuances of food and drink in the future! Cheers...

    What are you drinking now?

'Masterfade' Imperial Sour with tangerine and apricot. A unique collab between Blindman Brewing and Dandy Brewing Co. It's supposed to be very full of apricot flavour...but alas, my taste/smell is still wonky after Covid. No matter, the 8.5% ABV is doing me well, and I get little hints of sour...

    What are you drinking now?

Finally starting to feel back to normal, and my smell/taste is returning. So, why not go for a big one right off the bat?! Zero Issue Asylum series called Freeze. 11.5% of Bourbon barrel -aged Imperial stout. I know it's supposed to be a smoky, toasty malt-fest...hmm maybe my taste isn't normal...

Bottling carb issue with priming sugar vs fizz drops

My bad I was thinking a clear-style Hefeweissen / Pilsner. Ahaa! 1-2 weeks in Primary. It might say that in the instructions, but it might take a bit longer to reach FG. How many of your 12oz bottles are left? You may indeed get a few 'bottle-bombs' as the fermentation wasn't complete.. Best...

Bottling carb issue with priming sugar vs fizz drops

If you are set on the quick 'n easy bottling method, and it fizzes, looks and tastes like a Hefe for you, go for it! Re: Domino sugar - The sugar in the cubes is not always sugar. The cubes do not fit in most 12oz bottles, let alone a bigger 750mL opening. Do you have a local home brew store...

Bottling carb issue with priming sugar vs fizz drops

Looks good, I brew in the same size of batches...hmm...I've only tried to brew a Hefe once, and it took a month of proper lagering in a very cold fridge to even get the yeast to kick off. In traditional style, a Hefeweizen can take up to a month of fermenting, then a warm-up. Maybe your...

Bottling carb issue with priming sugar vs fizz drops

I don’t remember the last time I poured a batch just because it didn’t carb. Pour a huge glass, water it down a bit with Club Soda and enjoy a bit of the fizz!

Bottling carb issue with priming sugar vs fizz drops

Okay whoa..whoa…the trains are honking by…okay, we’re good. How many gallons/litres are you brewing? Did you create your own extract kit? How many ‘sample’ 12oz did you crack? ( don’t worry, everyone does it! ) Nope I don’t care to worry about bottling sugar anymore because I’m going to kegs...

Bottling carb issue with priming sugar vs fizz drops

Okay I’m not fully nerdy about the sugar/priming numbers, but I’m an anomaly because I still pour my beer into a priming bucket too!!? 🤓😱 The way I was taught: get the priming liquid in first, pour in the wort quickly to mix, then strongly mix it again after capping every couple bottles. If...

Bottling carb issue with priming sugar vs fizz drops

Okay, I’ll pipe up. My experience has been the total opposite. I tried 2, 2.5 even 3 of the dextrose drops into my usual 750mL bottles, never got a proper CO2 bite. Also good I had a Belgian’flip-top’ bottle, because I fully over-carbed a couple, and my kitchen sink was a mess! When I...

    What are you drinking now?

Haha 😂, Thanks, but there are still some ‘juicy’ professional brewers who will surprise you. Besides, I couldn’t lift a mini-keg just now…oof!!

    What are you drinking now?

OJ with a Ginger Soother. I'll be having a few of these this week because of a positive Covid test...sigh. Oh well, symptoms were the worst this past Sunday, but feeling closer to normal every day. Thank goodness for being fully-vaccinated! I think this is a good a time as any to bottle my...
