Best approach to cut slots in manifold

If you are broke like me and don't want to spend the cash on a dremmel, I would suggest a solid clamping to hold it and spending a few bucks on a pack of metal blades for your jig saw which have very fine teeth and will not make your work jump around if it's clamped well. if you clamp the...

    no activity3 days later

I am a returning (beginning/starting over again after long abscence) all grain brewer so please take what I say for what it's worth. If you're using ale yeast, it may help if your fermentation temps are a bit higher up around 68-72 to get it started and then regulate between 60-70 keeping the...

    How does one determime "efficiency"??

Ah hah! So find (from the chart) your points per pound, depending on the grain/malt type and take the last 2 digits of the OG and divide by 59.2 and that gives your efficiency? Got it. So when doing a 10-11 gal batch you wouldn't have to adjust any figures would you? Thanks fellas!

Greetings from NorCal and thanks for the help!

There is a brew competition in Napa coming up! In fact just yesterday, we were at the brewstore and Brewstore Ben mentioned it and gave us the flyer with the regs. It's in mid Feb, I believe, and it would be sweet if we could be into all grain by then. We'll see what happens!

HELP? I think the SG is waay too high.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies, guys. I think you're right and that is exactly what happened. Should have realized that. We ended up with about a 2.5 gallon boil and added water to the carboy but I just checked with my buddy who I brew with - he said that while I was cleaning up, he racked...

HELP? I think the SG is waay too high.

Hi Everyone, great forum. Thanks for all the usefull posts. So this is my first post here. I've brewed about 10 batches so far and today I brewed a hybrid batch of IPA today with just under 3 lbs of grain and what was supposed to be 5.5 lbs. DME. Upon checking the OG I found that it is 1.098...
