    My first beer in progress - does it look as you might expect?

    Your beer looks great! I'll give you the usual good advice, leave it in primary a month, then bottle and leave in a warm closet for the next month, best results are almost guaranteed. (I know that is easier advice to give than to follow on your first beer!)

    What's your occupation: Engineer or Non-Engineer

    Civil Engineer, graduated 1996 from Montana St Univ, and a PE too, though that dosen't help much with home brewing.

    Upgrading the taste of my homebrew

    I've brewed 4 batches now, and I have to be blunt - my first 3 were OK, but not real good. I can't complain to much, you can go out and buy worse beer that what I brewed, but it wasn't as good as good local micro-brew or good commercial beers. As I drank mine, I was just a little disappointed...

    Premier malt extract

    Thanks to landlockt's post I knew where to go find Premier malt in my town (Kalispell, Montana). So I bought some after work and brewed it up tonight. My recipe was very simple: boil 1 gallon water, add 1 can malt extract, add 2 cups Karol light syrup, bring back to a boil for 15 minutes...
