Roeselare + dregs + stable fg = ready to bottle at 7 months?

Thanks! Do you know if the gravity dropped much from 6 months to 1 year? If so, any idea how many points? I think that would continue in the bottle, but I'd have the freedom to refrigerate them and stop it if need be once it's in bottles, so that's a plus

Roeselare + dregs + stable fg = ready to bottle at 7 months?

Thanks for the tip! I don't have cbc-1, but I have t58 + go ferm or champagne yeast + go ferm. Looks like the champagne yeast is pretty close to cbc-1 from the description. I'll go with that 🍻🍻🍻

Roeselare + dregs + stable fg = ready to bottle at 7 months?

Hi everyone, I'm living in an apartment where the ambient summer temp gets up to around 95f/34c. I've had a sour going that's currently at 7 months and I'm wondering if y'all think I'm safe to bottle it now. Here's all the important info: -Sour red ale with mulberries added -Mulberries have...

Verdant IPA vs London iii krausen and attenuation

Agree about the awesomeness of Verdant, although I've noticed far fewer differences compared to London iii. The differences I definitely noticed were a krausen that was somehow even larger than London iii, much better haze stability, and better attenuation. I think I noticed a fruitier ester...

How fermentable is Vienna compared to pale ale malt?

FWIW I just checked and the Vienna I have is from Castle, and is lighter than most at 2-3L. Should make for an interesting SMASH beer for sure

How fermentable is Vienna compared to pale ale malt?

Great info, thanks! Plus you guys have me super excited for this beer. My hop choices are narrowed down to Eureka or Idaho 7 (staying away from the usual suspects for this beer). Thinking Eureka, as I have quite a bit and wouldn't mind putting it to good use, but what do you guys think about...

How fermentable is Vienna compared to pale ale malt?

Hey everyone, I'm doing a Vienna smash beer, and just wanted to ask how Vienna compares to basealts like pale ale, golden promise, MO as far as fermentability. Does it tend to finish around the same place, or should I expect the fg to be a little bit higher (not a big deal but will likely base...

Motueka hop pellet smell ...are these stale?

Yeah that did cross my mind...I guess I was just expecting the pellets to be pungent fruit, but you're probably right it's just how they smell. I'll see how they work in the NEIPA and report back 🍻🍻🍻

Motueka hop pellet smell ...are these stale?

Yeah these haven't gotten to the stage of color changing or onion/cheese, just grassy. Maybe I'll use half and see how it goes

Motueka hop pellet smell ...are these stale?

Hi everyone, I was gifted about 120g of motueka and planned to use them with Sabro in a NEIPA. They were vac sealed and kept in a fridge for a few months, and are 2020 pellets, so they're about a year old. However, the dude who gave them to me got them as a sample and wasn't sure how they...

Verdant IPA vs London iii krausen and attenuation

Actually interesting you posted taddy porter. I coincidentally tried it for the first time a few months ago. The bottle ended up being 5 years old by chance and seemed to have been stored pretty well. Tasted really nice with the age on it, although I'd like to try it fresh as well

Verdant IPA vs London iii krausen and attenuation

Haha yup that's that cheese cake Krausen! I mean, it's common, sure, but I don't really think that English strains are broken if they don't Krausen like maniacs (007, Conan, etc). On my end I just dislike it because it's less beer per batch and also more headspace, which I haven't had a...

Verdant IPA vs London iii krausen and attenuation

Final verdict on this yeast: The good: -ester profile and mouthfeel are as good or better than London iii -attenuates better than London iii -seemingly better haze retention than London iii (if that's something you feel is important) -reliable through at least two generations The bad...

Anyone have experience with Zappa or HBC-586?

Yeah 586 was just awesome all around. I cant wait to see it get pushed a little harder and then named. Will likely be a star in IPAs of all kinds in the near future

Anyone have experience with Zappa or HBC-586?

I really liked it, but would definitely use it for half the hop bill or less. The hops you mentioned would all be great to pair, but fruitier hops could work well, too. Zappa has great berry notes from my experience but also a really earthy, musty quality that was a but too strong in my beer...

Verdant IPA vs London iii krausen and attenuation

Quick update. Final gravities have been reached. The DIPA with a significant dextrose addition (I think roughly 8 percent) hit 86 percent attenuation. The pale ale, once I subtracted the lactose points from the og and fg numbers, hit 84 percent without any sugar additions. Mashed low on both...

    dry hop with hop tea

Agree, cryo is so user friendly. Wish they sold it in weight at better prices, but great to see so many varieties out there. Haven't tried lupomax yet (ordered a lb of citra lupo but got regular Citra by mistake...hard to complain though as it's super fresh citra haha), but hope to in the...

    dry hop with hop tea

There are a ton of cryo hops out now as well. Sabro, Simcoe, idaho 7, centennial, columbus, Mosaic, and others. I also like cryo for the whirlpool for sure. That said if you want to dry hop without the o2 risk, just doing it before terminal gravity should do the trick. Could even consider a...

Pale Ale came out very dark

Actually it's funny you mention that, because I think now that everyone's all about the haze, people get excited about the murky fermenter samples and then get disappointed when the beer drops relatively clear 😅😅😅

Pale Ale came out very dark

Oh haha I get it. But don't worry it'll look great when it clears up!
