Prices off at my LHB? Don't seem to be much savings DIY recipes???

That is alot of $$ Now that I'm all grain I just brewed 10 gallons of a 6% porter and my cost was right around $40. I jumped in on 2 group buys thorugh the forum, the first I spent $60 on 110 lbs of grain(Marris Otter $ CMC 2-Row) The next one I got 275 lbs of random grains for $160. Also like...

    Kegging set ups

I meant no hose clamps to worry about because they are all assembled and tested before they even get to your door. So to clarify yes there are clamps but none to worry about

    Kegging set ups

I had a goog experience with www.kegconnection.com We exchanged a few e-mails then a phone call and I got everything I wanted at a good price. It is also nice that he assembles almost everthing for you. All you have to do is fill the tank, attach the regulator, pop the disconnects on and get...

Need help wiring my PID and SSR

The PID works great for my system. I'm running a 110v 1500w Low Density element. Also it is hooked up to a 20 amp SSR. All my components are mounted in a roughly 11x7x5 ammo can. It was hooked up on the bottom of the stand and that was fine until I started using filtered water which is colder...

Light damage to beer - sun vs fluorescent

It basically boils down to cover your carboy with a t-shirt towel anything you have on hand and you should be fine. When I was watching Beerwars Sam Calgione had a carboy full of beer on his counter that he was going to bottle in a few days. It was in direct sunlight and he didn't seem to care...

Light damage to beer - sun vs fluorescent

Sweet when the blinds were open my fishtank would look like crap in a day or so. Got some blinds that let no light through except for the light thats in it and I don't have to clean it nearly as often. I'm definately no fish tank nerd so I'll take all the help I can get

Light damage to beer - sun vs fluorescent

just put a t-shirt on it if you are nervous. I'm not a scientist or anything but my fishtank gets algae like crazy from sunlight but not much at all from the light that is on all the time. Not to say it won't happen but straight sunlight and heat are a beer's enemy

What should my next brew be?

I voted belgian so you can take advantage of high temps of summer. The others can wait till it gets cooler.

Do you refill or exchange your CO2 bottles

Refill here $12 for a 5lb tank, $20 for a 10lb tank, and $3 for a 20 oz tank for traveling. I bought a $3 adapter and it works great. All from the local paintball place.

    Sanke valve tube

I've seen people make them into mash paddles and such. I'm keeping mine so I can cut it down and use it to build a randall out of a 5" water filter housing. I bet if you put them up on this site people would pay for shipping and your time rather than throwing them out.

Why can't you just tip the cooler a bit to drain it all out?

I was a tipper as well for a while but I kicked the habit. Actually my new tun is a converted keggle wrapped in 2 times with reflectix and jaybird FB and a bottom drain. I guess I'm kinda cheating now:mug:

    Question about building a Randall

I think it was in northern brewer they showed that a hydrometer tube cut down to fit the housing with holes in it would work good too. I was gonna go that route before I looked at the dip tubes wondering what to do with them

multiple kegs but only one co2 tank... hmmm??

If you want to force/boost carb another keg you will need a second regulator. If you are doing the set it and forget it method then you will be fine. I'm impatient so I have 2 Regs so I can serve and boost carb at the same time. I recently got my stuff from www.kegconnection.com all good stuff...

What's the best clamp to attach reinforced silicone tubing to a hose barb?

I run my silicone tubing attched to tri-clovers with zip-ties and it works great. It doesn't fit your criteria for not having to cut them off, but they work extremely well. I disassemble them every 4-5 brews so its not to much to replace. They are cheap don't chew up the tubing and I always have...
