    Final gravity on a hefe-help!

By recirculate I mean continuously, with a pump. If you're setup to do that, then definitely do so while you're heating the mash. If you're not, stir continuously while you're applying heat. As far as the risk of a stuck mash, you can cause a stuck mash if you recirc too quickly. In this case...

    Final gravity on a hefe-help!

PS, you don't need to add recirc capability to address the temp issue. Stirring continuously during the temp ramp up should also do it. Or you could just eliminate the 111 step and do a single step infusion at 152.

    Final gravity on a hefe-help!

He used WLP380 so 63 is slightly below its recommended temp range, but should be fine. I would pitch at that temp as well (63, not at 54). I suspect that the lack of recirculation is your main issue though, raising the mash temp 40+ degrees via direct fire without recirc is likely bringing...

Did I lose my beer because I waited too long???

Yep, it'll be fine, bottle it up

    Final gravity on a hefe-help!

Yes, the mash temp could be the culprit. You are also pitching/fermenting quite cold for this yeast. 2 questions: -what method are you using to apply heat? Direct fire? If so, are you recirculating while heating? If not, you could be denaturing the enzymes locally where the heat is being...

I updated the temp profile spreadsheet with 64 step ramping (old copy had 8 step ramping). Link is here

I don't think atoughram's graphs were showing a problem, I think he was just showing the first ramp of a series of two that are scheduled. I could be misunderstanding, but that's how I read it. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

I can second this one, I had several misfires while trying to flash via the "solderless" method and the controller stopped functioning completely after the first failed attempt. However, once I was able to maintain the connection and complete the reprogramming, it functioned normally, no...

The little number is in hours, not fractions of an hour, i.e. 24 is 24 hrs, 240 is 240 hrs.

That's the right board (v1.0), flash away!

    No Beer comes out!!!!

Yes, flat beer should come out. A few possible problems...: -your ball lock connector is not properly engaged, push down on it -your lines/connectors are frozen, turn the fridge temp up -the C02 isn't getting into the keg (pop pressure relief valve to test if this is the case)

    Stc-1000+

Yes, that's what I did. I've flashed 2 controllers now and the first one went well, but the second one gave me trouble with this method because one of the holes didn't have any solder in it. I ended up soldering in a pin header on that one. Good luck, hope it works for you. Sent from my iPhone...

    Testing pour with water

To each his own, I guess, 3psi/ft works for me. So do you really resize your serving lines for each beer you brew based on final gravity? That seems like a lot of work. I have 3 taps, one at 15psi for hefeweizens, etc and 2 at 10psi for most other beers, with lines sized according to the "old...

Custom formed stainless tubing?! Well now that's just showing off! :) Kidding, that's an awesome rig, I guess you really are a "welderbyday"! Side note: if you're interested in going into the business of forming/welding custom tubing with tri-clamp connections like that, and can do it at a...

    Testing pour with water

    1) yes 2) not sure you'd learn a whole lot here, or that it's worth the trouble to setup for 1.000 just to test, and have to use a shorter line when you actually switch to beer I wouldn't overthink this one; determine your serving pressure then use 1ft of 3/16" bev line for every 3psi (less...

I think you've still got stray solder making a connection there, below is a pic of an unsoldered board. However, I think the bulk of those solder joints are structural (hold the vertical board to the horizontal board). I'd bet it doesn't matter that you've got connectivity there, but I'm far...

I put together the attached spreadsheet to build temp profiles (helps me to visualize the profile before loading it). I'm also planning to use this to document the profiles I use for each beer, so I can replicate later if it turns out well. You can turn the ramping feature on/off with a toggle...
