    Honey Tangerine Weizenbock

You could also try a small amount of Honey Malt from Gambrinus Malting Corporation. It will impart some honey flavor to the beer.

Diastatic power of Mild Ale Malt

Thought I would post an update (since I hate it when people don't follow up on their posts). Went ahead and brewed up the recipe as originally listed last weekend. Mashed for 90 minutes. Did iodine test, came out 'amber', which means no starch detected. Tasted nice and sweet. Gravity came...

Problems with bottled batches (Kegged ones are fine)

Here's one thing to try (to eliminate some variables). Boil some water and sugar just like you do on bottling day. When done, take a taste of the result and see if you can detect the off flavor. Perhaps you are getting the flavor from the pot you are using...

Problems with bottled batches (Kegged ones are fine)

I have a few thoughts, maybe one will help. 1. Are you sanitizing your caps? Maybe they have dust on them (long shot, but thought I would throw it out there)? 2. What type of sugar are you using? I use corn priming sugar for my bottling and it works pretty well. Perhaps try a different...

Diastatic power of Mild Ale Malt

Cool, thanks everyone. I believe I'll give it a try as listed. I'll pick up some iodine and give that a go too. Cheers!

    Did my beer fart?

I did a Hefeweizen a while back using Wyeast 3068 - Weihenstephan Weizen yeast. Made my whole basement smell like a toilet for a number of days. It cleared up after primary fermentation finished. Beer came out great!

    Stainless Steel chain

I recently had a similar experience when trying to find some stainless steel balls to use as hop bag weights when dry hopping. Turns out, the trick is to search for '316 stainless'. In your case, try '316 stainless chain' - a number of results should come up. You might also look at 304...

Any All Grain Kitchen brewers out there

I do 3 gallon all grain batches on my electric kitchen stove. The stove can handle boiling about 5 gallons, so 3 gallon batches are about my limit. I use a 10 gallon cooler as my mash tun and batch sparge. I guess it would be considered a 3 tier system, since I have a second kettle that I use...

What got everyone into Homebrewing initially?

I too got started when my wife gave me a True Brew extract kit for my birthday. Funny thing was, I had been thinking of trying one out, but, had never mentioned it to her. I guess some things are meant to be! :) The kit turned out great (though I suspect if I did it again now I would find my...

    Right amount of phosphoric acid?

The Denver water report is available online at http://www.denverwater.org/WaterQuality/QualityReports/ You'll want the 'Treated Water Quality Reports' tab. The most recent one posted is from 2015, so a couple years out of date now, but I would think it is fairly close to current numbers...
