    carbonating keg top

You can speed up carbonation times here... but not enough to justify the extra money unless you have some kind of time restrictions requiring your beer to be carbonated superfast. Most of us can wait 3-4 days. The idea here is to get smaller bubbles into the liquid so it dissolves faster, but...

Anyone Whirlpool in a bottom-drain keggle?

You may have luck with some kind of trub guard around the drain... https://www.homebrewing.org/The-Trub-Trapper_p_7092.html I don't think dumping the first bit of wort will work as expected. Once you start drawing off the trub/hops will mix with wort as it pulls in. If you do, you'll want to...

    Flow meter for water

Just FYI, avoid these types: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007NHS9M4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I ordered it in an attempt to try and measure water volumes in/out of my HLT "cold"... and it's wildly inaccurate. Useless really... and it won't take temps you want.

    Tri Clover Integrated Heating Element

I ordered one... it looks like it may work, but i'm still waiting on a TC element to arrive to try it out. Found them for half the price on ebay as well, if it works i'll order a "set" for all my connections. I also think the bike inner tube would work, that's my backup plan since i have a few...

    Tri Clover Integrated Heating Element

I know this is a dead post... but this seems to be the ticket here: https://www.amazon.com/Leviton-6031-Straight-Locking-Resistant/dp/B003AUB5OW?th=1 Just can't figure out if this goes on the female side and will stretch over the male side.. or the other way around. Or if you need some kind of...

What hops to buy in bulk

Magnum is a good one to buy in bulk... or CTZ, any bittering hop. For IPA/Pales I use the bittering hop at 60m to get to a target IBU then add the flavor/aroma hops extremely late in the boil or whirlpool. Because no flavor/aroma is desired from the 60m addition in my recipe I pick a...

    240 vac RIMS

This is the one I use... 240vac 2000w . It's 15.5" long so it makes it ULWD, it also has a 3/4" thread that i use a reducer to 1" that makes it screw into my existing element adapter. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0789L2J9Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Like others have...

Good use for an old RIMS tube

Not bad... I like it. I can even picture the hop pellet potato cannon that resulted on the first attempt. if you have another valve handy it may make sense to put it at the top and close it while flushing with co2. I picture putting that cap on is a clumsy way todo try and keep o2 out. Also...

    Herms in a tube?

sounds like fun... as for the PID, I'd recommend going with the ezboil. the knob makes adjusting temp easier, and there are some more fun things you can do like ramp, etc. I got mine in a kit from Kal so I had the basic setup. I replaced then timer with one from auber because I had it already...

Tell my why I shouldn’t use a bag for a filter in my mash tun.

There are really only two downsides to using a bag... cleaning it and lifting it. If you move onto larger batches you may have to get a winch and/or figure out how to suspend that bag. Cleaning it can be a hassle, but prob not much more difficult than cleaning a hop spider if you're using one...

    Herms in a tube?

I believe Kal offers the kits with DIN components now, and they're prob a lot cleaner than my setup. You can def fit all the breakers and contactors no problem, i was able to put them on a single rail. That allowed me room for the 120V breaker, safe-lock, and Power Supplies on the top of the...

    Herms in a tube?

If you heat up your HLT water hot enough you probably would never need that scenario. I can't mix hot/cold water because i'm using RO... so i need my HLT to be the strike or sparge temp if i'm doing any kind of double batching. Single batch brew day would be fine... once the wort sparge/runoff...

    Herms in a tube?

when I get back I'll post some more detailed shots... I swapped all the normal stuff out for DIN so it would be tighter... was running out of room. also easier to replace bad parts (fingers crossed). plus, things like another 12vdc supply for a small water pump slide in.

    Herms in a tube?

I ran the power the enables the 2nd HLT's contactor through the boil kettles switch but with the Normally Closed attachment. you can fit two of those NO or NC dongles on the back, but you can stack more. so I ran a circuit that basically only enables the contractor for the 2nd element if the...

How long does a 20lb co2 tank last for you?

Weigh it after a refill... you may not be getting a good fill. The tank will have a stamped weight on it, that's how much it weights empty. After a refill, weigh it and see how much you got... you should have at least 3-4lbs in there or else the shop is likely doing something wrong. As far...

How long does a 20lb co2 tank last for you?

Having the 20lbs tank isn't like having 4x of the 5lbs tanks. The 5bl co2 tank refills are usually not full 5bls... you'd be lucky to get 4 lbs on a refill. As it gets near the top it gets harder to get co2 in there, they can bleed co2 gass out and try to get some more in, but eventually you...

Anyone have experience with these Faucets?

Avoid chrome if you're going to use it for more than a year... if it's going to see two backyard parties and then get lost in the garage then Chrome is cheap and works fine. But after a year of use you'll see the chrome eat away and there will be exposed brass which will corrode. not the end...
