    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

Brewed a Czech Pilsner i kegged about 10 days ago and kicked it yesterday. Had family over on Sunday and they absolutely destroyed it. Tried it side by with a Pilsner Urquell and the Urquell was definitely oxidized where mine was far fresher tasting. It was also more amber than mine, so this...

What did I cook this weekend.....

Yep, had steaks one time and he loves them. Second time he had two bites and left it, then got hives up his back. Tested for it and he’s allergic to beef. Not all that uncommon for kids with dairy allergies. It sucks the most for meal holidays. We always try to have them at our house so we can...

Tried my hand at some homemade fried chicken sandwiches that are allergen friendly for my kids. They were excellent!

Are You Your Own Favorite Brewer?

I will amend my answer. I think I’m my favorite brewer to make $.25 beer.

Where do you order your Homebrew supplies from ?

I’m very lucky that I don’t have to order much. I have a LHBS that I get C02 and stuff I’m out of, otherwise I trek to Midwest Supplies for sacks of grain and more variety. For hops I pretty much only order from Yakima.

Ol' Reliable versus Something New--I'm puzzled

So since you've had the best beer you've ever tasted already, you don't try new beers ever, correct?

    Need some Cosmic Punch ideas

What I do for my regular IPAs, because I don’t like having any dry hop particles is my clear beers, is add my dry hops when the wort cools down to about 175F as a whirlpool addition. Then when transferring to my fermenter I strain them out. For hazies though, I’d throw the hops in when pitching...

    Luckily, the beer is great

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Yep, that's the first thing I cleaned as it's the easiest to get at. It's definitely the spring (poppet?) of the post itself getting clogged.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Yes, I cold crashed for 3 days before kegging, kegged, then let the keg cold condition for a week. No added hops during the kegging process. Couldn't get more than a tiny bit at first and then nothing. Took off the dip tube post and there was some pretty thick matter there. Rinsed it and got...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Got my keg of NEIPA into my keezer today, but no beer came out. Ended up taking the post off and clearing it to get a sample - and it's one of my best beers to date. Hazy, super hoppy nose, but juicy and tropical with only a hint of bitter that really balances the sweetness. However it looks...

What I did for beer today

Put a gallon of beer into growlers to make room for a NEIPA only to have my CO2 kick. So now I gotta swap tomorrow so I can get some pressure and actually taste this bugger

Are You Your Own Favorite Brewer?

I prefer my beer, but appreciate the few times I do go out. It’s a hard dilemma now though. Get a style I brew for comparison and maybe be disappointed, or a brew I don’t usually make. Lately it’s the latter

Ol' Reliable versus Something New--I'm puzzled

You’re not though. I don’t need to give my pedigree to know that what you’re presenting is a logical fallacy. You can’t have “the best beer you’ve ever tasted” everywhere you go. Period. You don’t want to try new stuff because you found something you like and don’t want to venture to new stuff...

Ol' Reliable versus Something New--I'm puzzled

This doesn't really add up. Statistically, you shouldn't be getting "the best beer you've ever had" over and over again. So, for the one or two times that might happen, sure, it makes sense to have another - but I'm thinking this is more a case of recency bias if it's happening so often that...

    Small Batch Lagering Equipment

Check out the warm fermented lager thread. My basement stays around 68 all year, so I don’t do anything special besides use lager yeast that can ferment well at those temps. Drinking a Pilsner now that you would never know was fermented warm

    Harvesting and reusing yeast?

I just swirl the slurry and pour into about 4 mason jars. I store those in the fridge until brew day. 1 jar for ales, 2 for lagers, if it’s been a while I might make it into a starter. Decant before using and they are good to go. Free yeast is free yeast.
