    What People Think I Do

If you guys haven't heard of the "What People Think I Do" thing going around, I highly recommend Googling it. I couldn't easily find one for home brewers, so I decided to make one. Feel free to rip on it, offer suggestions, add to it, or make your own! Cheers! :mug:

    Siphon keeps stopping

I had this same problem when I lent my tubing to a buddy and used some other stuff I thought was the same size. I found that if I pinched the tubing around the cane it held the suction, so it was definitely a tubing diameter problem... As a lot of these other guys have said, once I got my...

    Primary to secondary question

Definitely wait until it's done fermenting to transfer to the secondary. The secondary "fermenter" is a misnomer, as it's mostly used for clarifying/adding additional flavors instead of actually fermenting the beer. And while airlock activity means its most likely still going, the only way to...

    Mega Brew Day - Tips/Suggestions?

Thanks for all the input! Including a trip to the LHBS, it took us 4.5 hours to get it all done. We started the boil first thing, per many of your suggestions and just fit the bottling and transferring in while we waited. The only thing we forgot was the Whirlfloc - but since this was the first...

A Fun Experiment w/ brewing friend...

I think since you were so close you should split the bet and each buy the other $200 worth of equipment. Great thread! I'm glad to know my mis-measurements wont make a bit of difference. Cheers! :mug:

Is there a level before a novice?

This was posted elsewhere on HBT, but I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss it - http://www.groupon.com/amarillo/deals/dc-ghd-mm-midwest-hydroponic?utm_medium=afl&utm_campaign=4534259&utm_source=rvs

MidWest/Groupon deal on basic starter kit.

Definitely a great deal - it's what got me in to brewing. I bought mine 7 months ago and haven't looked back!

    You Guys Rock!

No kidding ... https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f14/mega-brew-day-tips-suggestions-300120/#post3730207 Although mine won't be quite in the $5000 range, I've already bought additional equipment based on posts here, and I don't think it'll stop any time soon.

First batch is now labeled... and man, they look GREAT!

Aaaah, it all makes sense now - I was wondering why it said 800 labels, but you were saying it was only 400. I've had Gimp for a few years now, and as far as I can tell it's similar enough to photoshop that this should work. I'll let you know for sure once I get around to trying it out...

    Mega Brew Day - Tips/Suggestions?

You make a very compelling argument. I know I'll have to get some more buckets/carboys eventually, so maybe now is the time ... After reading all your suggestions, we'll probably start the brew first and kind of do everything else in the "down" time. We'll have at least 2, possibly 4 brewers...

    Mega Brew Day - Tips/Suggestions?

Short version: I'm going to be bottling, transferring and brewing (extract) all on the same day. Any tips/suggestions? Long version: My roommate and I have precious little free time in which to brew, so we have to make the most of days off work/class. We can/want to brew on Monday - The first...

First batch is now labeled... and man, they look GREAT!

Those look awesome! I thought I did enough research on custom caps a couple months ago, but the cheapest I could find was 30 cents per cap (which didn't quite seem worth it to me at the time). But your pics and link have definitely re-inspired me to order my own caps! I have a couple...

    How did you find us?

A friend recommended the forums when I first started out, and as with the last few posters, my google searches have lead me here quite often - so now, whenever I google a brewing question, I make sure to include "homebrewtalk"

Is there a level before a novice?

Since you said you're in no hurry, keep an eye out for the Groupon for the Midwest Supplies package. It's $64 (50% off!) +$12 shipping for a simple set up: primary bucket, bottling bucket, air lock, siphon, tubing, bottling cane, a kit, and a $25 gift card (which I saw as like 60% off my next...

    You Guys Rock!

Long Time Reader, First Time Poster. I just wanted to say hi and a huge thank you to everyone on the boards here! I heard about this place from a friend and fellow homebrewer when I first bought my set up, and literally every single question I've had, you guys have already answered AND added on...
