Help with BIAB Process and Switched Water Source - Beer Tastes Different

Chilling I have a duda diesel 30-plate chiller that can chill my boiling wort to 50 degrees in a single pass, 5-10 gallons no problem. Usually once the boil is over, I turn the water on for the plate chiller and open the kettle valve, no stirring or whirlpooling. It takes about 5-10 minutes...

Help with BIAB Process and Switched Water Source - Beer Tastes Different

Hi all, I'm asking for any advice/critique on my process and any insight in how to take my beer up a notch. Unfortunately, there's no brew clubs around my area to critique my beers, so I figured with the vast experience of brewers on this site, it would be a great place to turn to. I will try...

    What are you drinking now?

Yes, I usually go to prioritypass.com when I figure out my flights and type in the airports I will be at. Unfortunately Detroit has nothing priority pass accepted. I know they are starting to add restaurants but they are still lacking that here. I don’t mind with beer because I find the lounges...

    What are you drinking now?

I have priority pass and unfortunately Detroit doesn’t have a supporting lounge or I would be taking advantage of the free food and drinks. For now I’m forced to the main area bars. May I ask what other lounge programs you’re in?

    What are you drinking now?

In Detroit Metro Airport and sipping on Norm’s Raggedy Ass IPA from Griffin Claw. Delicious, however $10 for a beer is robbery

Maryland Avantco IC3500 Countertop Induction Range

What size kettles were you using with these? I'm assuming weight capacity was considered but not an issue for you. Would a 15.5 gallon, 15.75" diameter kettle be a problem? I see that it can take up to a 10" diameter kettle, but I'm assuming the overhanging kettle wouldn't be a problem.

    Fruit Beer Wild Strawberry Blonde

Yes, I will be using a 15 gallon conical for a ten gallon recipe (double the berries). I figure 5 gallons of extra space is plenty once the trub is dumped. To reference, my five gallon recipes have been ok in 6 gallon buckets, with little worry about secondary taking off again once the berries...

    Fruit Beer Wild Strawberry Blonde

Thanks for the reply. I should add that I plan on dumping trub prior to adding the berries to the conical. I have many buckets laying around that I can rack to as a secondary, I was just wondering if you would find any problems adding strawberries in a mesh bag straight to conical after removing...

    Fruit Beer Wild Strawberry Blonde

Hey WildGinger, I plan on making 10 gallons of this and was wondering if adding the strawberries straight into the conical would be problematic? I have made this before with excellent results in a brew bucket but is tacking onto the strawberries to avoid oxygenation? I get some secondary...

    20 year old chest freezer

Hahaha thanks for the assurance. I was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure if 20 years old "makes the cut" for the superior older appliances. Also found a Sears Coldspot chest freezer but I don't know how many cubic feet it is, looks big though. No idea on when it was made either.
