Copper Tubing Sales (aka ICS INDUSTRIES INC), long delayed cc charge

I purchased some tubing for an IC from these guys on July 15th, and just noticed that the charge came through on my card overnight. I called them and the person I spoke to said that their website provider had the credit card functionality set to authorize only and that they just finalized all...

    Equipment testing / software tweeking

I configured that a while ago, but I'm pretty sure that's exactly what is meant. I have 19lbs in there for the 70qt Coleman xTreme my friends and i use. One guy tared himself then stepped back on the scale holding the cooler.

Proper Temperature Controller for Window A/C

Since I'm using the controller to switch a regular outlet, I could run a small bulb on the other which could heat the a/c's probe, I suppose.

Proper Temperature Controller for Window A/C

I think I'll go with the Love controller. My plan is to simply turn the air conditioner to its coldest setting and move its built in probe outside my refrigerated bar. This way, whenever the Love powers it on, the a/c will sense that my utility room is warmer than its own setting and activate...

Proper Temperature Controller for Window A/C

Thanks shorty! That's kind of what I thought. I'm happy with the Love controller if I can confirm that it will work. It says it requires 110 VAC, which is normal household electric right? It outputs 15A. The A/C unit is described at 115 volt, but no word on the amps.

Proper Temperature Controller for Window A/C

I'm planning on using a 5000 BTO Haier window unit air conditioner to refrigerate the bar I'm building. I'd like to wire up a temperature controller to switch an outlet which would power the A/C. I'll either move the built-in temp probe to the outside or override it, as needed. I'd pretty...

    Equipment testing / software tweeking

In Beersmith make sure you set your Mash Tun weight, material, and other settings in teh Equipment dialog. Then, in Mash Profile, click "Details" and definitely get the Grain and Mash Tun Temps immediately before brewing. Check and uncheck "Adjust Temp for Equipment" and you'll see the...

    Beginner Equipment

I've never used Brewvint, but StarSan can be used with a spray bottle so you don't have to actually immerse everything in it. You'll use a lot less sanitizer that way.

    Overshot mash temp question

Always wait five minutes or so for temps to equalize before trusting your thermometer. I don't think 150F will denature many enzymes you're wanting to use at 145F. I've never done BIAB, but it seems to me that you could easily lower temps by pulling the bag out for a minute or two.

The bads days in hop growing

It sure would be a shame if a bunch of trub and spent grains showed up uncontained in the cab of that guy's truck.

    Building a wort immersion chiller.

Yeah, I'm going to scrub off the flux and then follow the directions for treating brass stuff, since I'm pretty sure the fittings I used were brass. Worst case scenario, it can't hurt. From How to Brew:

I just built one yesterday. If you're soldering anything, you'll want to clean off the leftover flux for sure.

    Custom Refrigerated Bar

Got stalled there for a week. SWMBO has primed the bead board and that will go up on the sides of the bar very soon. With finish nails. In the meantime, I'm considering temperature control. Is there any reason the Love TS2-010 would not be appropriate for my use? Again I have a Haier...
