    When people say it tastes like a...

    More often than not, my beers get compared /likened to Fat Tire, especially pale ales, browns and IPAs. I will try to head this off by explaining a little bit of what the flavor profile is supposed to be like before I hand them the beer.

    I just drank a cream ale for the first time ever.

    I brew a lot of BM's Cream of 3 Crops, which is the most popular amongst my guests. I don't call it a cream ale because would think it had some of cream in it.

    What ingredients to use for a wheat beer?

    Well, if you use 500g of dried extract, it'll increase the abv a little bit but you won't be able to tell the difference. If you're interested a higher abv, you might as well look into a regular recipe kit vs. a hopped kit like Coopers.

    What ingredients to use for a wheat beer?

    Although I've never brewed this one specifically, I ran the numbers and it looks like it should come in at around 4.1% which is on par for the style. Note that you're going to be using 1700g of the wheat extract +500g of the light LIQUID extract (afaik, Coopers doesn't make dry extract) + 300g...

    The process of Dry hopping

    tmoney answered the first 2 but this last question, I would say that it depends on what hops you're using, how much and how prominent you want the hop aroma to be. I've done it in as little a 5 days to leaving it in the keg until we've drank all the beer from the keg.

    A major break-through in parenting! From a childless man.

    How old were these kids? I had no problem taking my son to restaurants until he turned 2 and we often go to places you mentioned. Up until then, he didn't mind the noise or anything that went on around him. When he turned 2 earlier this year, he got fussy and he couldn't sit still for more than...

    Home Brewers in Florida (or other hot locals)

    I live near Palm Springs and the weather here can get into the 120's in the middle of summer. My house stays in the mid to upper 70's and I use the same method as Hellosluggo, but I don't use a shirt or a fan and I only use 6 bottles changed out twice a day (once before I leave for work and once...

    Are you the Black Sheep of your neighborhood?

    I don't brew in my garage so none of neighbors know what my setup looks like. A few of them know that I brew and have seen the kegs. I bought my house at the top of the market and most of the ones that were here when I moved here have lost their homes so now I have new neighbors. Good bunch of...

    ~~~Now That You've Built Your Keezer~~~
    I'm on version 2.0 of my keezer and it's nearly perfect for my needs/wants. The only thing I would change is to get a bigger freezer but I simply don't have room for that.
    BAD BEER WARNING: Henry Weinhards IPA
    I got my 6-pack for $5.99 from a discount grocery store so I knew exactly what I was getting (or I had a suspicion that it wasn't going to be a great beer). I get the warning. But it's definitely not the worst tasting beer I've tasted. I would still classify it as an IPA.
    What percentage of your beer is homebrew?
    I like to try out new stuff, so when I'm the only one drinking, I drink commercial stuff. Plus, I love sours and I haven't mustered up the courage to brew sours. All in all though, I'd say I'm about 90%.
    Your Christmas tree; Real or artificial?
    Growing up, we always had fake trees, so as soon as I was on my own, I started getting real trees. Three years ago, my wife talked me in to getting a fake tree and I'm actually enjoying it a whole more than a real tree. We might go back to getting real trees in a few years.
