How much priming sugar for a partial batch?

A question for the masses.... I'm thinking about upping my batch size from 5 gal to 8 gal and using the 5 gallons to fill a keg and bottle the remaining 3 gallons to share. My dilemma is that I don't know how to figure out how much priming sugar to use for the 3 gallons for successful bottle...

Same here! Jason, please don't take this as a dig on you 'cause you've been awesome with this whole deal. My beef is with UPS. I know the weather has been bad out there in Texas but for crying out loud I find it hard to believe they couldn't have gotten a truck out sometime in the last 3...

    Offering 3/16" Barrier Tubing...

As I began the process of setting up my kegerator I read various message threads about the different type of beer line tubing and how they “might” affect beer taste. I figured since I was in the initial stages of setup that I’d go the extra mile and get some of the “barrier” type tubing. This is...

Do any of you think about brewing more than you should?

Yep, wife gave me the Mr Beer kit a couple Christmas' ago figuring that it would end in a month or so. Boy was she wrong. 5 gal batches, all grain, kegging, when will it stop. :cross:

    Adding honey to primary?

Thanks Poobah58! Although if I heat the honey wouldn't that be detrimental to the yeast cells currently doing their thing in the primary? How hot/warm to heat it? Adding it to the secondary is an option I might consider. I hate to waste all the time/effort of the all grain brewing and then...

    Adding honey to primary?

Yesterday I just brewed my 1st all-grain batch (5 gal). It's a Blond honey ale. I hit most of the marks dead on (strike temp, sparge temps, OG, etc). My question is that in the recipe it says to add 1 lb of honey into the primary carboy when there are 4 days left (or when the bubbles in the...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I'll be working on my first all-grain brew tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon. Am excited but apprehensive (worried about forgetting a step or missing temps). It's just a simple American Blonde ale as I didn't want to go too wild on my 1st one. Have been amassing all the needed equipment (11 gal...

    Mash Paddle

Nice!!! I was thinking about going the Natural Gas route but then found out about the vent hood requirement. I guess it's doable (as can be seen in you photo). Post some pics when you get it all done.
