    30hrs No Frementation

Now that I've succesfully hijacked this thread (sorry bobby :o ), since my starter is of decent size, 1000ml, should I do something to adjust my gravity readings, or is 1l in 5gal too little to care? -Chris

    30hrs No Frementation

Lesson learned. I tossed some dry yeast into my current brew, so hpefully that will take off now. For my next brew (to be started this Sat.) I went ahead and made a liquid yeast starter (1000ml) so we'll see how that goes. Thanks for making this thread, bobby, so I didn't feel alone. ;) -Chris

    Is that a Dune quote?

    30hrs No Frementation

I didn't mean to hijack bobby's thread, but yes, I did use liquid yeast (White Labs) from more beer which is about 15 minutes away, so I know it didn't get messed up in transport. I didn't use a starter because the 'test tube' instructions didn't call for it unless there was an extremely high...

    30hrs No Frementation

I just did my first extract this last Sat. at 9pm PST. Well, it's 9:21pm (48 hours later) here now and guess what, no activity. I'm freaking out here. I read this site for months before making my first attempt, and followed all instructions to the T when I did, yet I'm seeing way more lag...

Local brewing clubs/groups in SF east bay?

yeah, what can I say, I'm spoiled. :D As nice as it seems, it has already proven detrimental to my checkbook. Go in there for a $2 part, or even just 'free' advice, and walk out with $20+ worth of stuff you didn't realize you just HAD to have. :drunk: -Chris

Homebrewing in NJ ILLEGAL w/o permit!!!

This little line here also implies that not only can it not be sold (fairly obvious) but that the permit holder is the only one technically allowed to consume the beverage. So I guess even sharing a few of the brews with friends, for free, is out of the question. -Chris

Local brewing clubs/groups in SF east bay?

Following your advice I did stop by the Oak Barrel to look around, but forgot the gentleman's name I was supposed to be looking for. :o I'll be back in berkley this coming week, so I'll have to remember this time. Now, it looks like I'm off to practice my google-fu. Thanks again for the...

Local brewing clubs/groups in SF east bay?

I'm new to brewing (actually haven't even started; the last bits of my brewing kit are scheduled to arrive Mon.) and am unfamiliar with my local homebrewing 'scene.' I'm a big Subaru enthusiast and as such I found that as helpful as the online forums were, I learned exponentially more by...

    Cap'n Jewbeard's First Voyage!

Nice and simple; I like them both. Can't beat the imagry of a Hasidic Jew pirate. :ban: B&W is cheaper with regards to ink as well. -Chris

Who Would You Most Like to Have a Beer With?

Can't limit myself to one, but I'd have to go with: Ben Franklin FDR W. Churchill John Browning The only 'famous' person I've had a beer with (Guiness, actually, several of them) was the bassist of Flogging Molly. Dropkick Murphys may already know who they are, but they're an 'Irish Drinking'...

Hello from the SF East Bay, CA

Yeah, a buddy of mine that went to Cal told me about that place. My job (wine & spirits sales/distro) takes me to several accounts off of Telegraph, so I'll I have to check it out next time I'm down that way. Thanks for the input. -Chris
