    Vanilla beer (non porter/stout)

Here I go, bringing this back up... The vanilla is past its prime for sure... I'll have to pick up some more for this. What about making the white house honey ale, and secondarying with vanilla? I tried a friends homebrew cream ale and wasnt too impressed. Something with a little bit more...

    Vanilla beer (non porter/stout)

Any idea how long vanilla beans are good for? I bought a small jar of them in Mexico about 2 years ago and they have been in my fridge. They still smell like vanilla but I'm not sure if they would be good to use.

    Vanilla beer (non porter/stout)

Snowdrift vanilla is actually a leine's brew and I think it is awesome. I think the amout of vanilla however in snowdrift would be too much for anything but a porter. I think sam adams makes one called snow day? Thanks for the recipe. That was what I was beginning to develop myself, simple...

    Vanilla beer (non porter/stout)

Thanks for the input so far. Are there any malts that impart a vanilla like flavor? The more I look into this the more I find that vanilla extract and vanilla beans are very east to over-do. All three of the recipes posted seem like good starting points, thanks alot.

    Vanilla beer (non porter/stout)

Hey everyone. My other SWMBO (mom) has asked me to make her a vanilla beer of some kind. I asked if she wanted it to be a heavy or light beer and she requested that it be on the lighter side. I've seen tons of recipes for vanilla stouts and porters, but havn't been able to find many for...

    Assisting RIMS with propane.

Im working on a half electric BIAB RIMS system. I plan to use my propane burner to get my keggle up to dough-in temp, proceed to dough in, then power up my home built RIMS tube with PID to maintain the mash temp in the keggle. After I begin the mash, the propane will remain off until the mash...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Habanero IPA

Habaneros are a very oily pepper. Do you have any issues with that?

Fruit and Spice Beer Mango Habanero Ale

Habaneros are a very oily pepper. Did you notice any issues with that? (terrible head retention, film on the beer etc) Did you do anything to sanitize the habs or mango?

Irish Red Ale Raging Red Irish Red Ale

Not sure if the typo is OP's or my LHBS's website but I couldn't find "Melanoiden" malt when searching their site. Googled it and found the spelling "Melanoidin" which they did have! Everything in stock at the LHBS...Placed the order and I'll pick up tomorrow after work. Cant wait to brew...

Chocolate Milk Stout - NB Kit

I just bottled this kit last week. When I transferred to secondary, I added about half of the package of nibs because I did not want a huge chocolate presence. I left the nibs in there for about 3.5 weeks instead of the recommended 2, because I was too busy with the holidays and everything...

Re-Carbing commercial brew in rented keg

Got a quarter barrel for new years for myself and a couple buddies. We didnt end up getting through all of the beer and now its sitting in my garage. I re-tapped it last night but its pretty flat beer. We were just using a party tapper from the liquor store. Is there anything simple I can...

    Caramel Apple Hard Cider

Cracked the first bottle of this last night. Girlfriend made a 1 gallon batch of plain cider that we made into this recipe, so our recipe varied a little bit. Bottles carb'd up really fast (2 days) and we only lost one bottle to pasteurization. This stuff is good for sure. We are defiantly...

    A question about hop utilization...

Hey all. I brewed my second extract kit today (NB chocolate milk stout) and just like my first batch, the wort tasted extremely hoppy. Now I know that it is unfermented and alot changes during fermentation, but consider this: The Extract batch that I brewed about 4 weeks ago has fermented...
