Has anybody tried using short shank taps?

As I stated before, if it will primarily be used by one or two people at a time, it won't be a big issue. Its when 4+ people will be using it that there will likely be an impact. This is where the kegging aspect is different than bottles. "Grab me one while you're up" "Anyone else want one"...

    Fermentor Chamber in Old Keezer

Wow, that is very impressive and makes that set up extremely manageable. You do not have to constantly worry about the temps and you could even go away for the weekend.

Dual Fermentation Chamber Build--Will It Work?

Can't really speak to your second question, but check out this build for what you are trying to accomplish: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=538078 I think you would be better off with a mini-freezer to accomplish lager temps, like the build in the link. I was planning on...

Has anybody tried using short shank taps?

But having the entire shank and faucet inside the keezer should translate to almost no change between the shank and beer, so foaming should not be an issue (at least in regards to faucet and shank temp).

Has anybody tried using short shank taps?

Correct, I would say better than an upright fridge, because a freezer should be better insulated. However, in a chest freeze, the dense cold air will tend to stay in the freezer, similar to a co2 blanket in a fermentor. Also, I think having to open the fridge and keep it from swinging while...

Has anybody tried using short shank taps?

I would suggest against that idea. Upright freezers use so much energy when opened because the dense cold air comes spilling out when opened. If this keezer would be for only one or maybe two people it should be ok, but if you ever plan on having many people using it, for a party or something...

7.0 cu ft chest freezer...what fits

I have the Fridgidaire 7.3 cf (Model FFFC07M1QW) that I use for a keezer. I am able to get 4 cornies or two 6.5 gallon buckets on the floor. Here are some rough internal measurements (hard to be dead on when full), but should be no more than 1/2 inch off: Length: 32" Width: 15.5" Depth: 26.25"...

Brewery / Bar - Garage Build (planning, need input)

Maybe look at putting in a wall upstairs, dividing it in half. That would limit the noise from downstairs, allowing your kids to watch movies in peace, and give you more room for storage and maybe a bathroom.

Brewery / Bar - Garage Build (planning, need input)

I second using the closet as a half bath. Its a perfect place for it and as stated above, will provide very little room as a walk-in cooler. I think the keezer build at the link below would be perfect and could go right up against the wall you were planning on having the taps...

    Custom Chamber or Chest Freezer?

Thanks. Looks like I'm probably going to go with the freezers. This way I do not have to build anything and I will not have to make any mods.. and if, for what ever reason, I stop brewing (when I die), my wife will have perfectly useful chest freezers. And yes, I used to live in Tampa, FL...

    Custom Chamber or Chest Freezer?

Thanks for your input. I'm not really worried about the price as my budget is about $400, so I have plenty of options. However, I do want to do this fairly soon, so I probably won't wait around for craigslist much longer. I think I'm with you though. If it is going to cost me the same to...

    Custom Chamber or Chest Freezer?

Ok guys, I need some advice. I was very inspired by jstuts2260's chamber build seen here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=538078 Having just built a keezer, I really want to have a ferment chamber and lager/conditioning/carbing chamber so I can have kegs ready to tap once one...

To keg or not to keg??

For me, starting with kegging was a very easy decision. I already had a kegerator that I used for commercial beer. So when I decided to start homebrewing, I simply bought a 1/6 barrel of a nice beer, drank that as my beer was brewing, then used that sanke to keg my beer.. I reused that sanke a...

Dual Lager & Ale Fermentation Chamber PLUS Kegerator Build (pic intensive)

Wow, that is sexy. Just built a keezer, but after seeing this, I am getting the itch to build more! SWMBO goes out of town for a week next month.. probably best to ask for forgiveness than permission, right? However, since I already have a keezer, how well do you think a three chamber would...

Q's Keezer Build -- No Woodworking EXP

Sorry for the delayed reply. These are rough measurements because I had four kegs and a CO2 tank inside, but there should be no more than 1/8" - 1/4" error. All measurements are internal. Length: 32" Width: 15.5" Depth: 26.25" Hump Height: 8.5" Hump Length: 8.5"

Thoughts on a 4 Tap Kegerator?

I was in the same boat as you man. I wanted a keezer in my house, but SWMBO said I could as long as it doesn't look like it belongs in a frat house. Here is my build, keep in mind chewing on the popsicle stick after I ate the popsicle was the extent of my wood working experience...

Serving from corny keg without co2 connected

This just is not possible. It will work for the first few pours; however, as beer is displaced, C02 will degas from the beer to reach equilibrium. It will quickly be insufficient pressure to push beer. If you are going to have the bartender serving beer, why not just bring your CO2 system...

Thoughts on this Son of Ferment Chamber?

I am not considering buying this; I am more interested in the design. I have plenty of spare wood and insulation from my keezer build, so if this design is just as effective, I may try and build a similar one. It would probably cost me no more than a $15 temp controller.

Thoughts on this Son of Ferment Chamber?

All, While browsing through craigslist, I came across this "Son of Fermentation" chamber. I have never seen one built like this and was wondering what your thoughts are. I can't decide it the design would work better or worse than most builds. The sinking cold are would definitely help keep...
