    What are you drinking now?

A case of 12 of these 22 oz'ers was $11.99 at my local liquor store. Needless to say, I bought them out (5 cases). It's pretty good, especially for $1 a bottle!

Styles you would like to see commercially

A local self described "beer mecca" sells in various sizes depending on price and alcohol content. Any where from I believe 6 oz (things like DFH 120) up to 20 oz pours. They have something like 50 taps (none of them a BMC product) and probably 100's in bottle/cans. They also have a Randall that...

Homebrew Law - 200 gallon limit

I don't see anything in the law forbidding the creation of wort. Personally, if I brewed wort such as you and your friends do, I would wait to pitch the yeast at home anyway. If the equipment was at my place I would want the others to take it with them also but I don't have a lot of storage space.

Haven't tried that but it sounds good. Love the Enterprise opener. Greetings from not too far south in Bear, DE. I used to live in West Grove behind the high school

    Recovering Mr. Beer "brewer"

Howdy! Been to NC a number of times and love it there. One of my favorite vacation spots all time is OBX. The brew was a little bitter at first but the flavors mellowed and combined nicely. I'm digging it. I just had one about an hour ago. I had an "issue" with one of my bottle cappers and got...

    Post your infection

That's exactly what happened to my Caribou Slobber (posted a few pages back with the initial pellical). It's still sitting in the secondary. I've checked on it about once a week and while it looks funky the smell is fine. If I taste it and it seems fine, do you think I'd be ok to bottle and...

    Wedding Brew

First of all, congrats on the wedding! I hope you have a wonderful life together. I'm not sure what ABV you plan on for the ones not indicated, but I would suggest at least a couple/few fairly low ABV but flavorful options (~4% or so for the BMC crowd that isn't used to much more alcohol)...

    What are you drinking now?

Luckily, my son works at the liquor store I frequent. They have a great selection of craft brews (similar to Total Wine if you're familiar with that). I just picked up two cases of Goose Island Honker's Ale. It's not my favorite style but at $9.99 a case it was hard to pass up! I like it.

    My first bottle bomb!

Thanks for the replies/suggestions. The one that blew up did so when I crimped down on the cap. Weirdest thing I've seen. I have only about ~100 total on both (I try to use the Grolsch bottles when I can). I will check to make sure everything is tight on them.

    My first bottle bomb!

I have two bottle cappers. When capping the last batch, the caps seemed fine. Most of the bottles were carbonated nice at first and few were flat. Upon closer inspection, some of the caps didn't seem "closed" all the way. Pulled out the red capper and tried to see if I could tighten 'em down. It...

    Brewing WITH beer?!

You might have better results heavily drinking home brew the night before and pissing in the boil kettle, imo :D Having said that, I hope you try it. I'm interested in the results. Have you decided on a style?

The single best beer bar in your state?

Here in Delaware, the original Dogfish Head Brew Pub in Rehoboth is good for the beer. It's where Sam started brewing and still has the brewing equipment in it. Sometimes they have "experimental" small batches that you can only get there. Up north, Two Stones Pub has probably the biggest...

    Post your infection

I've gotten mixed messages as to whether this is an infection. I need to sanitize the thief and take a taste before I decide what to do with this. It's in secondary right now.

    Nut Brown Christmas Cookie

Got the NB Nut Brown extract kit (with steeping grains) and thought I'd doctor it up a bit. I'm going for something to store away somewhere til the holidays. I want it to be a little malty sweet with kind of a oatmeal cookie or fruitcake vibe. Here's what I came up with ("Recipe does not...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Jalapeno Cream Ale

Our local HB club just had a meeting at a LHBS and I picked up a BB cream ale kit. One of the members brought a pepper ale that was really good. Not a strong pepper flavor but a slight lingering heat on the back of the palate. I'm growing habanero, scotch bonnet & jalapenos. This is inspiring me...

New post a picture of your pint

My first 5 gallon batch! :ban: This is the NB American Wheat Ale to which I added 2# of honey, clementine peel, coriander and rosemary. This is from the first bottle of the batch ~10 days after bottling. It tasted a little bitter but good. I think another week or two and it will be very good (at...

    Completed First Brew, Successfully!!

Awesome! I just tried my first 5 gallon batch a couple days ago. It was pretty good for ~10 days in the bottle. I know it will get better. I have the Caribou Slobber in primary right now. I just picked up a 6 gallon bucket to use as a secondary. I'll rack the CS in about a week and start...
