So what did you do with your OTHER hobbies today?

Said hello to one of my 3 year old rhubarb transplants. Looking good and spry finally!

    Corn advice

At a rate of 2lb/gal, I'll boil the water, remove from heat, and add the regular grits. Do this about 30 minutes before your strike water is ready. At T-10 minutes, add two big handfuls of crushed malt and stir it in. This will loosen everything up enough to easily transfer at pretty close to...

So what did you do with your OTHER hobbies today?

While gathering my chili makings, I found we were out of canned beans. So I took the opportunity to can up 27 pints of garden-grown dry beans to restock the shelves.

    English Best - carbonation strategy

Touching on your seal question, Williams Brewing offers an oversize O ring that will seal with zero gas pressure. I use them on my plastic lids and dinged up kegs. https://www.williamsbrewing.com/Home-Brewing-Equipment/Kegging-Equipment/Keg-Parts/Keg-Lids-Lid-Parts/Oversize-Keg-Lid-Sealing-O-Ring

It takes 20% of your effort to accomplish 80% of a task. Needless to say, I ain't got time to 100% much.

    Baltic Porter recipe

I'm not sure if I've been living under a rock for the past decade plus, but the idea of a porter run with a good bock yeast is quite alluring. I'm gonna pen that one in after my citrus wheat and at least two Hazy IPAs.

Wine for the end of the world as we know it

I'd lean towards hooch like whiskey or bourbon. Grain grows pretty much everywhere. And feeding/running a still takes both equipment and know-how to do decently well.

How do you move water around from one vessel to another if you are doing a 10 or a 20 G batch?

I do BIAB in a bottom draining keggle, so my biggest effort is filling with RO water stored in corny kegs. For that, I stand on the countertop. And again when I hoist the grain bag out of the keggle. Few worries, as I don't usually have too many beers in me by this point. Otherwise, the wort...

So what did you do with your OTHER hobbies today?

Weekend recap - while I had the stuff out, I cast and coated 1k+ more .45 boolits. In preparation for a 3 person relay marathon, I snuck out for an 8 mile run. Used the cold but nice weather to haul out a half yard of concrete chunks to my newly inherited dam and split/hauled a cord of hard...

Do remember to set your timer, unless you want to be surprised by chicks hatching before you've removed the turner rack. 39 set and at least 10 duds. So probably 20 roosters.

So what did you do with your OTHER hobbies today?

This weekend was spent casting up some new shotgun slugs and last night I got around to loading up one set. Starting with one oz at around 1400fps. Then I get to tweak the 1 7/16 oz slug to hit 1300fps. Unlike @hottpeper13 I've only thought about my seed starts for the third week running.
