Can you change post size on a corny keg?

I suppose it's relative then. I've got the mechanical and other DIY experience to not strip a keg post, and to recognize if it's too tight or too lose. I suppose there are those who would. So it could be simple to try, but with an asterisk regarding who's doing it.

Is the dead space really a problem when doing a full volume mash?

Cool to know the details, thank you. I will continue to do the lift & lower thing a couple times during the mash and probably to suggest it to others as well. Nice to have #'s on it.

Can you change post size on a corny keg?

For the wrench, you want one of these, but of course form a seller that has it. This was the link for mine but that was years ago. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088KB7D49?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_10 As for "does it work", it seems to me you currently have 7/8 posts on hand...

I think I am using too much coffee

I think you meant grams of beans... I use 19 grams for a 2 oz. espresso shot every morning. I go with an identical amount for a roughly 6 oz cup of coffee if I stick it in my Aeropress. It's a bit strong but I like it that way. 32 grams for 16oz might be a good starting point. It's not too far...

    Stupid Joke Thread!

They're around, got together with another family at a local lake 2 weekends ago and one of those old trucks with the music and etc. came by. Any yep we were scrambling to find some cash to appease the kids.

Cutting/sanding off shelf slots to fit more kegs in kegerator

I have no pictures to share, but have owned more than one with exposed insulation. Current one only has a small hole drilled for a bulkhead for a CO2 line.

It's not the first or last hack job on a mini frig, I've done it too. It works.

Is the dead space really a problem when doing a full volume mash?

Anvil 6.5 which I put about 6lbs of grain and 4+1/8 gallons of water into, for mashing my last brew (Pale Ale). 11+5/8 ID for unit 10" even for pipe 2+1/4" from bottom of pipe feet to mesh platform inside it (which is ~ 3/8" higher than the outside edge of the pipe itself) No perforations

Is the dead space really a problem when doing a full volume mash?

I did a rough calculation on my Anvil a while back and it's in the neighborhood of 30% of the cross-sectional area where the mash pipe sits.

    Hop schedule for modern APA

I dislike Chinook, personally. But the Centennial, Simcoe, Cascade combo is awesome. Any 2 of those 3, or even any one by itself are also all good in my book.

    Hop schedule for modern APA

I think that looks great, But as a data point / comparison, here was my last brew, with a combo of Centennial and Cascade: 1 oz @ 15min (about 15 IBU) 3 oz @ whirpool 170F 20 min (about another 15 IBU) 2 oz dry hop after fermentation It's an odd feeling to not use any boil hops, but it works...

Is the dead space really a problem when doing a full volume mash?

something like this could slip between the outside of the basket and inside of the main unit: https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/spincycleoverboard.htm Pump needed, of course. Helps later as well when chilling, if you use a copper coil. At some point skip the basket and do the bag. Skip...

is this batch ruined? I think I experienced negative pressure in the carboy

Even after brewing a long time you can learn something from each batch, so don't be too surprised something went awry. Surprised the carboy cratered in on itself, not super surprised somethign went backwards form the blow-off though especially if the temp dropped at some point. There are a...

    Storing oxygen stone

Storing in Star San is interesting, I should do that... I use mine, leave the O2 runnign while it comes out of the beer and goes into star san, runs a few more seconds then I'll cut it. I store it loosely in some foil until next time. It's definitely one of the things I need to do better with...

Oatmeal Stout AG chocolate oatmeal stout

Looks tasty, it's similar to one of my recipes and I may try this one next. Yeah a stout in the summer can be good at the right times (I happen to have a basement TV room and it stays dark and cold both down there kind of like winter haha). For the malts, what L were they (chocolate for...

Is the dead space really a problem when doing a full volume mash?

Us Anvil folks often use this in the bottom of the kettle, inside: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G1B1YJM?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_4&th=1 Add a Wilser bag above it for your grain, and skip the pipe altogether. The bag will let the grain go all the way to the sides, and the...

I push "+30" and then there's a dial (yes, a dial) to go even longer. Long live the dial. I've repaired the microwave twice already and will continue to do so as long as possible!

    Low efficiency problem

Regarding sparging, I've been skipping it as well. I did it without fail on my propane setup, it was ingrained for me as a process step for decades. Slowly with the AIO tried skipping it and it's been fine. I squeeze the grains pretty well and there's very little left. Sparging gets me a few %...
