Operation Clone Lagunita's Undercover Investigation Shutdown Ale

So far, so good. It's a bit funky and taking awhile to carb up, but I think it turned out great. Jury's still out on whether or not this is a clone, but either way it's tasty! At almost 11%, it doesn't burn. I think this'll be quite tasty in a couple months. I still have no idea how Lagunitas...

Anyone have a good 21st amendment Bitter American Recipe?

I feel like the main dry hop flavor I get is the simcoe. I get barely any centennial. BUT I'm drinking my first one... from the can. No pint glass at the moment. So I think that simcoe should at least by equal to centennial on the dry hop, but that's just, like, my opinion man. this is a really...

    Accidentally Doubled Hops (haha)

If you're around cincy stop on over and grab one :). I'm so excited to see how it'll turn out. This was also the first time using the city water unfiltered, so i think that has something to do with how delicious it is turning out.

    Accidentally Doubled Hops (haha)

So this turned out to be a hugely awesome beer. Only a week in the bottle and it is already really tasty. Can't wait to see how it develops.

    Saaz Hops?

Perhaps belgians? Here's a fun way to answer your question: http://hopville.com/brewing-ingredients/hop/97/czech-saaz that's for czech saaz, but the idea is the same.

    Back in Black IPA

I finished this last night. Ended up clearing out some bits and pieces of hops packets that I had in the fridge. I was a bit short w/ the late addition cascade so I substituted in some amarillo. Same w/ the columbus, so I added nugget and chinook. I'm very excited about this. OG 1.065 FG...

Brewed up this beast of a black IPA last night

So I "cleared house", so to speak, last night. I had some freezer hops that were browning, and random grain from craigslist that needed taken care of. Specifically debittered black malt. I had bits and pieces of hops packets from previous batches, so I also used the hops substitution chart to...

    Back in Black IPA

Ahh, that makes sense. Thank you for the suggestion. Too late, used a spice grinder. Did small batches, shook it up by hand while grinding. A bit of powder but mostly not bad. I ended up clearing out the freezer and fridge hops. We'll see how it turns out. haha...

    Back in Black IPA

Great, thanks! That's what I figured. I'm doing the same thing - I have everything on hand except for the Carapils, which I picked up last night. I did, however, forget to bring my black malt w/ me and the stuff I have is not milled. This is a bit off topic - but do you think I could get away...

    Back in Black IPA

I have a question. Do you really notice much of a difference with the 75L addition over adding a bit more 60L?

    Back in Black IPA

What to do with all this debittered black malt? And other grain.

thanks sir. got any recipes that call for more than .5% of the debittered?

What to do with all this debittered black malt? And other grain.

Hi all. I bought some grain on craigslist a month ago and got a nice deal. About $35 worth in grain and hops for $12 :) In short, I have the best kind of problem. Too much grain! The thing is, I have no idea what to do with this giant bag of Dingemann's Debittered Black Malt. I must have 3# of...

    American IPA Hopslam Clone

I also just saw one of these Mikkeller brews online, haven't tried them. I'll have to get my hands on some. Thanks!

    Accidentally Doubled Hops (haha)

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty excited. If I'm going to mess it up, I'd rather it be like this rather than, say, missing the gravity by 40 points :)

    Accidentally Doubled Hops (haha)

Hi everyone. So I made a brew last week with a brand new 20 Quart brew pot that my wife gave me for Christmas. I was going to brew up 3 gallons of this IPA (based on Lagunita's IPA but modified for what I had on hand. It was Sunday and I got the itch! Beer store was closed). Hopville ...

Way, way, way over the top Sam Adams Utopia clone - #2

I know I'm digging this up, but it has my mouth watering. I created a mini version partial mash that I can use on my set up. 2 gallons partial mash. I used enough 2-row to help convert, plus filled the rest in with extract. Scaled everything down by 1/7. Hopville . "Utopia Clone (2G/PM)"...
