    Growing hops from seed

Hello B-Hoppy, Tell us more of this Le Hood hops. Was it grown from seed? What is its origins? Would you be willing to sell a Le Hood rhizome?

    Growing hops from seed

Would you guys sell rhizomes from certified male plants? This would help a lot as then we would have a known male for breeding with known female plants.

    Growing hops from seed

Thanks for all of the information. Maybe I'll get lucky and one of my plants will get stressed out naturally. What you said about feminized pollen only producing females is interesting. I did know about that. I should also do some research on that "other" plant. If cuttings become available...

    Growing hops from seed

I want to start crossbreeding hops as well, but I have been unable to get access to any male plants. I don't want to buy seeds off of eBay because I can't trust their information about the lineage of those seeds. When I buy seeds I want to at least know which mother plant they came from even...

    Growing hops from seed

Hello Papabearjay, did the seller have any information on what region these seeds were from? Are there native North America, Neomexicana, European? Either way good luck with the seeds I'll be cheering you on. Also, count me in as being in line for cuttings if you do succeed.

I have seen trifoliate in both chili and basil. What variety is the father of the Chinook, Cascade, and Sterling cross?

    Growing hops in southern california

Last year was my first year for the Centennials and I got a small yield. I didn't weigh it so I don't know how much I got but it was enough to fit in both of my hands, so about one big handful.

    Found some wild hops

I understand. I have done some reading on hop breeding programs and it seems like hop breeding is almost like playing a genetic lottery and hoping that you hit the jackpot. I know there is science behind it that can increase your odds of a favorable outcome, but I won't have access to that kind...

    Found some wild hops

I am looking to experiment with crossbreeding hops. I was a gardener long before I was a homebrewer. I am most interested in the Neomexicana varieties as those are native to the southwest. Getting to mess with new genetic material means new possibilities. Breeders now are trying to breed...

    The quest for Fuggles (SoCal)

I've noticed people on the internet selling different Fuggle types like Fuggle H. Do you know what type of Fuggle you ordered? I live in Paramount which is near Cerritos when my plants mature and I can pull rhizomes we should do a swap. At the moment I only have Centennial growing.

Wow, that's a lot of rhizomes. How old were the plant(s)? I wish I still lived in the North County area. I am about a 2 hour drive further north now.

    Growing hops from seed

I read your blog and I will be following your experiments. My goal is similar to yours except that I am looking to grow hops that are adapted to the southwest. I live in southern California where my hops have already sprouted. I will post a picture taken today on 2/23/2014. My starting point...

    Male Hops?

I've avoided eBay and other places because I don't trust them either. I regularly comb the forums looking for people with seeds because here on HBT people would at least know what plant they are collecting the seed from. Thus, we would at least know which variety the mother is. I still...

    2014 Hop rhizome Swap

I have a Centennial plant that I grew from rhizome last season. It is now in its second year. I might be able to send a rooted cutting if I can successfully create cuttings from the Centennial binds. I really want some Neomexicana, Sorachi Ace, Cluster, or Magnus. I am also looking for some...

    Male Hops?

Do your hops have seeds? Do you have male plants? If so I was wondering if you would be willing to sell a rhizome or perhaps seeds?
