I like it myself. You can get all the trub to settle out before the wort goes into the fermentor. Very clear at that point.

Same problem here with the lids. I don't tighten them too much but coming they are really stuck on there! But why? Gasket swells? Other than that slight problem, I love how these work.

Teflon tape here. Change it out every batch.

Thanks LL. I get fairly high efficiencies. I watered it down to get the proper OG and I guess in the process watered down the flavor a bit. Live and learn. Thanks again.

I am fairly new to all grain recipes. I was wondering. If my system is very efficient, do I only adjust only the 2 row to give me the target OG? If I added sterile water after the boil to adjust for the target OG would I be just watering down the flavor? Thanks

Atrifishal, why fill the jars with wort? If it's to prevent oxygen, I feel it would be just fine to add it to the wort at this time in the fermentation if not beneficial.

Sounds like a great beer! Sooo, I had to brew it! In the fermentor now. Did not alter original recipe except I'll be adding 4 oz cocao nibs soaked in vodka after the fermentation slows. I'll report back...

Just a note. I bought 3 of the ecojars lids. Not too happy with the fit. I was able to pull the top off after tightening it. Don't feel secure at all with that. I do love the idea though with the mason jars. If I could only get better jar bands it would work. I'm determined to make this work.
