California Regulator and 5 pound CO2 tank - Elk Grove, CA

For Sale - Kegco 2 gauge CO2 regulator, about a year old. I replaced the high pressure regulator when the tank mysteriously fell over in the presence of my teenage boys. CO2 tank holds 5 pounds, has about a pound left. Tank is out of hydro date (10/2014). Some places that exchange don't care...

    Over night mash

Direct answer - overnight mash worked well. Beers tended to attenuate more. Got nervous about infection, so added a step - once mash was done and had a few moments, lifted out bag from cooler to drain, poured wort in kettle, and got up to 190 degrees to kill off any baddies. Turn off gas, put on...

Floating Dip Tube - Which One?

I use the Torpedo Buoy from MoreBeer in my kegs - fermenting and serving. I’ve replaced the silicone tubing with 24 inches of 1/4 ID when needed. Also, a stainless swivel nut slides right over the tubing and onto the liquid pick up just right. Extra weight keeps the tip below the surface with...

Taprite Permanent O-ring to CO2 Tank with LeakStopper Oring

I have a brand new taprite primary reg that has a permanent o-ring, so no nylon washers for me. But, the CO2 tank I swap out also has a permanent o-ring screwed into the male fitting of the tank. So, I would have two rubber o-rings touching to create a seal, doesn't seem the best. Anyone have...

    Odour in stainless steel

I just got through this same thing, ruined plastic fermenters, couldn’t get the weird metallic smell out of the beer or fermenter. After a frustrating process of elimination, it was my kettle. Turns out my Stainless steel kettle was not passivated completely. I scrubbed too hard, let hard water...

    CMB V3S faucet

I traded out my CMB V3S faucets for Intertap - traded with someone local. I had the CMBs on my fridge for a couple of years without any issue, but I wanted the spring return and stout options. I think they are both good forward seal faucets, just a matter of personal preference.

    Splitting Brew Day???

Only one way to find out, right? :) I have not noticed any difference between brewing all in one session vs evening mash/sparge/quick boil and wait to morning boil. It does take time to get up to boil the next morning because the wort has cooled off. Good Luck!

I have a bench capper collecting dust in my garage. I’m in Elk Grove. Willing to swap for a bottle or 2 of whatever you have. PM if interest.

    Splitting Brew Day???

I’ve done this as have others on this forum. There is a slight potential for spoilage, but it would be slightly soured after boiling the next day. Others talk about a slightly more fermentable wort. For me, I mashed and sparged and then did a quick boil (for like 5 minutes)the night before...

    Kettle clearance

You’re thinking on the right track with hefting that wet grain sack out of the pot. Lots of ways to do it (dig around this site for some cool ideas). I use a single pulley on a rafter hook in the garage.

Plate Chiller vs Counter Flow Chiller

If possible, borrow to try out what works for you. I don’t like Duda plate chillers but my neighbor loves his. I’ve loaned my Hydra chiller a number of times and some brewers don’t like it but for me it’s the best thing I’ve used. One last thought, before I bought a chiller, I used ice bath in...

California Electric Brew Panel (240v) and Hot Rods

And I'm back. I have figured out shipping: I can get the panel in a box 16 x 14 x 11 and it weighs 20 pounds. It would be coming out of the 95624 zip code. If it is worth it to you to ship (and you are willing to pay for it), I will ship the panel only. USPS, UPS, or FedEx are the services I...

California Electric Brew Panel (240v) and Hot Rods

Also open to trade or combo of trade and cash. Looking for nitro regulator and tank, a KAB4 burner, a shorter brew table (if you can weld, this may work for you). Or maybe whatever else you have and I didn't realize I really needed :)

California Electric Brew Panel (240v) and Hot Rods

I'm doing the unthinkable - going back to gas for brewing. Electric brewing is hard to do with friends at other houses, so this is a move to be social. Panel runs off 240, built for 50 amps. Does have 120 outlet, uses 4-prog dryer cord for power source So, up for grabs is my brew panel sourced...
