Sooo you know how too much of a good thing is bad? Well its true with vodka too!

lol yes, it is a joke. I made it my sig because I fully expect it to taste extremely nasty. Partly because of the vodka taste and partly because we used bread yeast not knowing any better. Let me tweak it a little. The taste isnt that horrible. It sort of tastes like Wood Chuck but slightly...

Sooo you know how too much of a good thing is bad? Well its true with vodka too!

Hey, Im in Allentown! Nice to see a local on here. Well I had read on here that after racking some volume is lost and that the space between the air lock and the wine level in the carboy was a risk for oxidation and that I should add the cheapest vodka I could find just to bring the level up...

Sooo you know how too much of a good thing is bad? Well its true with vodka too!

Long story short, the GF didnt think I added the vodka to take up space in the carboy, so she added some whe racking. So yea, our batch of concord is a little hairy to say the least. maybe 700mils. When I was done taking a SG reading I went and cut a cup full with some regualr grape juice...

Best methods for removing C02 from a batch?

Excellent tips! Thanks Yoop. Sooooo seeing as I used Bread yeast not knowing any better when I started I possibly may have sabotaged my batchs into taking forever to clear? Thats not cool lol.

^Thank you sir, I racked both batches today and checked the SG's. Concord was at 1.020, Apfelwein was at 1.010. However there are no more bubbles rising from either batch. Am I ready to bottle? Or should I just let it go?

Best methods for removing C02 from a batch?

I re-racked a batch of Apfelwein and a batch of Concord wines today and took SG readings. Apfelwein was at 1.01, concord was at 1.02. After a small sip test they were both extremely carbonated. :drunk: Very tasty, but you can barely even taste the wine itself with the fizz action in your...

Nope, Lairds 80 proof 40% ABV. Distilled in the traditional style of Scobyville New Jersey for that old world taste.

How about just adding the cheapest Vodka you can find when fermenting in the carboy? I just did with a batch of welchs in the carboy, 350ml was $3.80. That'll up you Alc. % PS, I dont really think MD 20/20 can be called wine lol.
