    PicoBrew Zymatic

I had an issue with a leak on a couple of batches. What was happening was the grain was getting out from underneath the top screen, and then interfering with the flow enough that the wort was covering the lid, and draining down the back. You couldn't tell any of this from the front. The fix...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

I believe that'll get you arrested for terrorism these days.

To clamp or not to clamp, that is the question.

I don't worry so much about blowing off the barb, as having a micro leak and losing my CO2. So I clamp, even though it doesn't appear necessary. That's all I got. :D

    No craft beer for you!

To my mind, while it will take longer, it merely encourages start up distributors for craft beers. They may not have as big a profit margin, but they'll be in demand. And In-Bev-Coors_Whatever will continue to lose sales.

Nah. He works for Fox News. :D

What do you do at your job?

You've got to go high-end, or you DO go out of business. We've got 4 local blacksmiths, and a bronzesmith that make a darned good living hawking their wares to people who can afford +$40,000 gates and balustrades. Meanwhile, folks making cool bottle openers, corkscrews, etc get whined at if...

What do you do at your job?

Not as dying as one might think. Merely invisible. Much like custom carpentry, stoneworking, thatching, or blacksmithing. (The last of which, I do at the local state park every Friday.) :mug:

What came in the mail for you today?

A Rodenator, and a pressure cooker for the yeast lab. :rockin:

What do you do at your job?

Nice to see at least one other person involved in animal husbandry. I'm a farrier. I clean, knife, and trim horses feet to balance their movement. Heat either a premade shoe, or straight stock, and shape it to fit the trimmed foot. Then (after cooling) I nail it on, set clinches, and make it...

    Beer and Brewing Magazines

I'll add my vote to this one, for the same reasons. Beautiful print quality. And for those who cook, the recipes aren't too shabby either.

Do commercial breweries condition their malt?

I am finding that if you dampen the malt ever so slightly before milling... And I mean so slightly that you aren't quite sure that it's even damp, that I get a great whole husk from the barley. Haven't had much of an issue with wort drainage since I added that wee step in.

Help! I need to name this beer

I'm going to be all picky and point out that it should be Tim. :D That'd work well for an Irish red. :mug:

Help! I need to name this beer

Eric the halfabock I'm a lumberbock, and I'm okay Ram's Bladder Bock (Okay, straying into dangerous territory on that one) :D Non-pythonesque: Golden Goat Honey Rambock

    PicoBrew Zymatic

I set up my Pico 6 days ago, and have run four batches through it. I've had two issues with it. Both issues were, strangely enough, operator induced. Imagine that. I have no complaints with the machine, and I'm really impressed with the web interface.
