AW Root Beer Extract/Clone Recipe ?

This is why I use sassafras, in addition to the other ingredients in my brew. :) OP: Not to rain on your parade but you getting anything close to A&W may not happen, especially an exact clone, short of steeling the recipe. Due to restrictions on what you are able to get in Ireland, I'm...

AW Root Beer Extract/Clone Recipe ?

I have seen people use dandelion, so I thought I would try it, but I am a little skeptical on if it's something I want in my recipe or not. This is why we experiment. :) Ill try anything, assuming my trying is correct, and if it doesn't work, well then it doesn't work.

    Nevermind...

I agree, Red Star Champagne yeast is the way to go. With that said, I have had a glass 1 gallon carboy explode with 1/4tsp of yeast. I use 1/8 tsp per Gallon and its perfect carbonation. The only reason I had the bottle bomb was because I was up late brewing and wasn't thinking straight when...

Soda Newbie...How to make and keg a Root Beer..?

Not sure if the OP is still wanting info on this but here is my input. 1. If you're looking for something really easy and fast, even kid friendly, extracts are the way to go. I tried an extract once, followed the directions to a T and it was awful. It may be that I didn't try the "good" kind...

Beginner to brewing, would like an overview on setting up

There is a great book called Home Made Root Beer, Soda, & Pop that I would recommend. I have a copy and it has many recipes in it to get you started, from which you can start creating your own. Here is a video that shows the process and you can get some ideas of equipment needed. There is also...

AW Root Beer Extract/Clone Recipe ?

Not trying to hijack the thread, but how much dandelion do you use? I tried some of that and I think unused to much. That batch turned disgusting.

I know this is an old post, but yeah, Champagne yeast all the way. It wont taste like beer/bread and the bubbles are awesome.

AW Root Beer Extract/Clone Recipe ?

I know this isnt much help, but I was on a similar search once and the one guy who was able to help, gave me nothing but a list of chemicals I never heard of and the portions needed for each. It was at that moment that I realized it wasn't going to happen. Id love to have some myself, but I dont...

    Root beer

If you guys are ever looking to dive a little deeper into the root beer making, I know of a wonderful recipe that has made its rounds through here and is loved by many. I would love to share it with you too. “Signature Recipe” MAKES 3 GALLONS 12 Qts Water 36 oz. Honey 3/8...

    Homemade Extracts

I know that this doesn't seem soda related but I will be using it for my root beer and may cut costs a little bit...maybe. I'm thinking of making my own vanilla extract. I have heard that Everclear is a good alcohol choice for making extracts. However, my little research has shown that Vodka is...

    Cream of tarter

In regards to cream of tartar, how much would a person want to start with in a 5 gallon batch of root beer? I'm assuming you wouldn't need much, but I'm not even sure of what a starting point would be. Thanks again for the help.

    Cream of tarter

I have noticed that cream of tarter is used in commercially produced soft drinks and in a number of soda recipes. What is it that cream of tarter does for soft drinks?

    Soda newbie

I have never done force carbonation, but if I could, I would. I use champagne yeast for my root beer and the thing I love most about it, there's no beer/yeasty flavors. It's very clean and the bubbles are small and wonderful. If you were to use a yeast, that's what I would recommend. But this is...

    Sweet Alternatives

Thank you guys for the help. A lot of good advice. As far as A&W goes, I only ask about it because my wife is a big fan. I like it also but not enough that I'll lose sleep over not being able to imitate it. I was just curious for my wife. :) Thanks again

I dont k ow if this will help you or not SodaCoastie, but I have a cream soda that I make and doesn't use yeast. Go to YouTube and search for KD0RVY. That's my channel name. Hopefully that can give you some ideas. If not, well it was worth a try anyway. :) Good luck.

    Sweet Alternatives

So I have been trying to think of some other ways to take my root beer up to the next level of amazingness. Rather than adding other ingredients, haven't had much luck in the flavor department on this, I thought I would try something different. Here are some ideas... Make some invert sugar and...
