Bottling in clear glass bottles, why?

:off: I'm also reminded of the "bitter beer face" commercials from the nineties. Can't remember who did them though.

This is a problem, but....how big?

You did good. I second (or third or whatever) the blowoff tube suggestion, but I've left nasty looking airlocks on for days without problems down the road if they weren't actually clogged.

Bottling in clear glass bottles, why?

I was thinking that earlier. How many people describe a beer they don't like as skunky even though lightstruck isn't technically what they are tasting?

Bottling in clear glass bottles, why?

Some of the most sought after cheeses are pretty disgusting when you think about them, but people have a taste for it. That's one way to think about "skunky" beer. It's a perfectly natural process that most of us like to avoid, but others have just developed a taste for it. I don't always find...

    Time to learn

Welcome! All the learning here is gone though. I took it all.

    Bottling without sugar.

I've definitely heard of people doing that, but I've found the sugar route to be near bulletproof. Getting ready to start kegging though, so I'll probably just bottle that way for the foreseeable future.

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

If drinking a nice store bought bourbon and listening to John Denver is wrong, I don't wanna be right!

You're not a cop are you? You know you have to tell me if you're a cop, right?.... Doesn't matter though. I didn't make the bourbon.... yet!

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

Truck driver tip: Always drive like you don't have good brakes, then you'll always have good brakes when you need them. Might be the bourbon talking, but sometimes I think my dad really does know some stuff.

    Leaky spigot

First time using a 3 gallon Fermonster. I've got 3 gallons of cider in it and the plastic spigot is leaking, not around where it seats against the vessel, but out the bottom of the spigot like the valve is bypassing. It is not major; just a tiny seep resulting in a little sticky puddle. Is...

how about a meme generator thread...

First I was happy, cause this is awesome. Then I was sad, cause I miss the Weird Al glory days.

    Water Profile for Bourbon

On a related note, what about for proofing down? I'm assuming any water that tastes good would work pretty well.

Bourbon advice for Oak Cube soaking

Last time I did this I wound up blending splashes of four different brands to soak my cubes. I had a few bottles that basically just had a sip left in them. My brother in law likes to bring over bottles that are almost empty for me to sample and figure out what I like. Whatever flavor I wound up...

    I needed that closure. :mug:

    Is this a bad idea....

I had the misfortune of being at a friend's house when someone broke out "Faces of Death." The depravity of that tape forced me out of the room in anger. It's painful to me that there's a market for that. The cow thing though...I can see some educational value if nothing else. I learned that...

    Grain Tea

Please do. It really doesn't use any more space than extract and the only additional equipment you need right away is the bag.
