Low F.G. after low mash temp

Sorry about that, typo.... I meant to say high F.G. on the title. The kit was from Northern Brewer, Speckled Heifer. The fermenter is in the basement, temp is a steady 65 F. I will open it and give it a swirl. The analog thermometer is pretty close, within a degree or two to my digital. I...

Low F.G. after low mash temp

Hello, I had a partial mash kit that I done a few weeks ago. Long story short, the mash temp ended up at 140F after 1hr, I forgot to pre-heat tun. I went ahead and finished it anyways. The O.G. after 60 min boil was 1.050. After 2 weeks in the fermenter the S.G. was 1.023, I let it go another...

1st all grain 1 gallon batch

Hi, Well it said the recipe was calling for 61 gravity points right after steeping, I got 1.015 :) lol. After the boil I got 1.040, target was 1.047. I went ahead and put it in the fermenter anyways. Next time I will look for a tried and tested recipe :) Thanks for the reply.

1st all grain 1 gallon batch

Hello, I've done quite a few extract and partial mash kits. This morning I found a recipe for a Belgian Witbier in a 1 gal batch all grain. I am in the middle of steeping the grains now and Im thinking its not right. In the text it states that it should be like an "oatmeal" consistency, mine is...

    Blow off (overflow) tube

Hello, I have been using Northern brewer 6 gal buckets for fermenting. I use a 1/2" hose for a blowoff tube that goes into a small bucket with the end of the hose about 2-3 inches below water line. Last time I used this setup I noticed there was a bug in the overflow bucket. Does anyone know of...
