    DIY mash tun

I've watched a few videos on making a mash tun out of a cooler. One thing that confused me is using SS connectors when you're using copper tubing in the mash tun. Why does it matter if you use SS for your ball valve etc if your tubing is copper?

    2nd brew fermenting

Wow a lot of activity since first post. Still going crazy. Can't wait to taste the finished product.

    2nd brew fermenting

Pitched yeast about 28 hours ago. Started fermenting nicely about 12 hours in I lost about a half gallon of water in the steep and boil, so the OG was 1.080 instead of 1.070. I don't have gallon lines on my carboy so wasn't sure how much more water to add. I'll add some markings before my next...

    2nd brew fermenting

Much more proud of this one than my first which was a prehopped LME. This one had steeped grains, LME, and 3 hop additions. I feel like I actually created beer this time

    Experimentation

I used to be worried about someone stealing my idea. But the more I read, I realize its probably been done before. Beer has been made for a long, long time. There probably isn't much that hasn't already been tried. :)

    How much is too much?

Ok, just to play devils advocate here because I too love beer. But, would you "love" beer if it were Non alcoholic? Would you still drink x beers a night for the taste alone? I "love" beer, but will not drink NA.

    Starsan question

My LHBS guy told me storing StarSan solution in plastic containers is bad. He said it will eat into the plastic. However, pure StarSan comes in a plastic container. What's up?

    First batch bottled!

It was a prehopped IPA from Muntons. It tasted like flat beer, so once it's carbed it'll be fine. My second batch will be a partial mash Scottish Ale. I just need a few more pieces of equipment and I'll get started

    First batch bottled!

It's going to be hard waiting 3 weeks. I hope it's worth it. Now I need to get started on my second batch. I have the ingredients, just need a better boil pot.

    Maybe a stupid question

Ok I think I have a better understanding of the difference now, but I'm not a scientific person. I'm a do this, this, and this to end up with that person. So this is how I understand the difference. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The difference between mashing and steeping is a very slight...

    First Home Brew

Patience? Lol. My cousin wants me to bring my first batch over this weekend to try...it's still in primary after only 13 days. I think tasting this far from finished product will teach him patience :)

    Maybe a stupid question

This is a store recipe, and store packaged LME. The plan it to steep all the grains and sparge into my pot adding the LME during the boil. I can post the entire recipe w/ instructions if it would help. I'm fairly confident I can follow the recipe and it should turn out good. I told the guy at...
