How long will tank of propane last?

I highly recommend buying some aluminum flashing for your burner. I have the KAB4 and recently bought some and it makes a huge difference on how high you need to turn the burner up. I bought a 10'X14" roll for pretty cheap, you can find it in the roofing section at your Lowes or HD. cut it to...

    Uh, oh. Bottle bomb.

I have had a bottle explode that was stacked on another and with different sizes, perhaps the taller bottle blew up because of pressure from above. That or a defective bottle. It happens. Open that thing up and see what happens. If you get a hiss and not a BAM!, it is a good sign.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Mint Chocolate Stout

I'm trying this today and mashing at 156. I think I'd rather have it a little sweeter. Going to soak minced mint leaves in vodka until kegging. We will see how it turns out.

    Beersmith I screwed something up

I have been fine using this since April. This morning I entered in a new recipe and when went to preview the brew sheet, it has me using way too much water. I do 5 gallon batches and normally I start with 7-10 gallons but this time it says 16+, It is only 11.75 lbs of grain yet the sparge...

Looking for an Arizona peach ale clone by Four Peaks???

I see your Peach ale and raise you a Hop Knot. Seriously, I can't get enough of any kind of beer they make. The recent seasonal ESB and Poppin Pils, just fantastic. I recommend signing up for the dinners they have been having where they provide 4 courses and beer to complement. I wish I owned...

    compare bayou classic burners

I bought the KAB4. There is an initial learning curve but once you figure it out, the thing is magic. Do yourself a huge favor if you get one. Buy some cheap aluminum flashing that comes in a roll, you can find at home depot or lowes in the roofing section, cut a piece to go around the burner...

Autumn Seasonal Beer Joie De Vivre (Fake Imperial Pumpkin)

I brewed it and cut the spices 75%, still seemed fine. The beer did change a little but I am hoping that it clears up during fermentation.

Autumn Seasonal Beer Joie De Vivre (Fake Imperial Pumpkin)

Brewing this tomorrow. Per Beersmith your starting boil volume is way off. I'm gonna roll with it and see what happens on a 6 gallon batch. Also going to drastically cut the spices, it looks way too overpowering.

Immersion chiller - what's best - prechiller or recirculation ?

I bought a 25' x 3/8" Immersion chiller when I started all grain this May, I do 5 gallon batches in a 10 gallon BC. Being so close to hell, the ground water here is about 90 degrees this time of year. I struggled through batches, bringing down the wort to 90-ish degrees after quite a long time...

    My Mash Tun Build

I'll say careful when making the slits. You will find it easy to go too deep. I had to start over on my first length because I was going too fast. Slow and steady. I made shallower slits but I made a lot of them.

Ready to Start, a few questions

If I were you, i'd go to your local HBS and see what they have for a kit. You will eventually need them one way or another so getting to know them and their store will benefit you. Start out simple with a partial boil on your stove to make sure you enjoy the process and to get your process down...

    coffee stout recipe questions

I made a espresso stout that added 2 cups at bottling. It worked out well but if I had to do it again I would cut it down to 1 cup. It turned out good and was a crowd pleaser.
