    Is this infection?

That looks like pretty normal krausen to me, kinda hard to tell from the pic, though...

Any dog biscuit recipes using spent grain?

Quoting David 42 (a fellow that seems to know his sh!t pretty well) from an earlier post: "Spent grains actually have a fairly high protein content and are commonly used as cattle feed. Golden Valley Brewery's owners feed the spent grain to their Angus to augment the grass and then serve the...

Ok, new AG system went terribly wrong!

Sounds like things just went a little wrong... I mean, nobody was injured, no carboys were broken, nothing caught on fire. For your first AG I'd say it went okay

    Most overrated high priced beers

hmmm... Yeah, I wouldn't pay $4.50 for them either (unless I were in a bar, I guess). I like Dead Guy, but it certainly isn't their best effort. I think I usually see them for around $3.50 or so, sometimes less.

    Most overrated high priced beers

I'm surprised that a couple of people have put rogue down... It is expensive, but not that expensive: buying three of their 22's costs about the same as a six-pack of some other premium beer... It's usually not my first choice either, but I do think that some of their beers are pretty yummy...

    Starter

Usually starters do krausen... I wouldn't worry too much, though, so long as it is making lots of CO2; it may have already fallen (like while you were asleep, starters go fast), or maybe the shaking every couple of hours prevented any substantial krausen from forming...

    How much can one transport?

So, uh, what exactly is the punishment these days for "interstate bootlegging"? Nothing like dealing with the local liquor commission fascists while you're in college... What a bunch of nice, open-minded, highly intelligent fellows...

    Brewing in Montana

Welcome from Great Falls (I usually refer to it as Goat Falls... Don't ask). I just recently started AG myself; HTB was very helpful when it came to making my MLT. Missoula is a fun city, a bit more lively than G Falls.... :(

    Yeast starter.

Also, I can't say for certain, but I assume that the "yeast fuel" is just some sort of nutrient blend; zinc, amino acids, some other minerals. Whenever I make a starter (which is always, when using liquid yeasts), I add a half teaspoon or so to the starter wort during the boil.

    Yeast starter.

He's not saying the yeast fuel has ill effects. You have it, so go ahead and use it as prescibed. Don't worry about not ahving a starter this time, but next time give it a try. It is easy, will cut down fermentation time, and generally improve your beers.

    Priming sugar mistake?

I'm not sure, but I think that you'll be okay... Next batch, just add your 3/4 cup of corn sugar to a pint or so of water, boil it for five-ten minutes, cool it, and you're ready to go.

    I'm diggin this forum

The squirts? hmm... Gas, sure. But the trots? Never experienced that one from homebrew... Are you sure that he just wasn't a poor show golfing? I mean, if given the choice of admitting to having explosive diarrhea vs. just really being a sh!tty golfer, which would you choose? At least there...

Pint is a legal measure and not subjective.

Hmmm... Are you sure that's .473 litres? I dunno, looks like maybe you got short changed a little. Did they advertise it as a pint or just a glass of pu$$y?

Pint is a legal measure and not subjective.

So, um... uh... Anybody want to talk about organic vs. non-organic? Or maybe how to boost the ABV of some University student's hooch?

Pint is a legal measure and not subjective.

Safety First! And did I mention that I am actually in favor of using metric?

Pint is a legal measure and not subjective.

I've spent several years of my life in a country that uses Celsius, though I was born and raised in the US. Of course Celsius can be related on a human scale, so could Kelvin, cones, rankines or any other measure of temperature... The point is that Fahrenheit uses as its scale what one might...

Pint is a legal measure and not subjective.

Antiquated? Perhaps. Convoluted? Most certainly. But I still say that the Fahrenheit scale is more applicable to every day life. And it is not completely arbitrary, either: it describes, on a scale of zero to one hundred, the range of temperature that is livable for a human being. So at...
