Propane tank filled, now it won't work?

did you try http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/equilibrate ? ;) Edit: and if you are looking for fun vocabulary words, you should look up catamite. I love that word, because if somebody p!sses you off, you can call them a catamite to their face, and if you say it in a nice tone, they'll...

Propane tank filled, now it won't work?

Hmm, that is interesting. I'll be doing that from now on out, hopefully that'll be all I need to do.

Propane tank filled, now it won't work?

The thought had crossed my mind, except that between heating water for the mash (after I got it to work) and heating water for the sparge (when it stopped working again for a moment) I didn't touch the whole setup. At any rate, it's boiling now, so all is well that ends well. Until next...

Propane tank filled, now it won't work?

So, that little valve (or whatever) thing may not have actually been the problem, because it wouldn't start (at first) when I started to heat my sparge water just moments ago. I did manage to get going after unhooking my turkey fryer and then hooking it up again, though. I am wondering if I...

Propane tank filled, now it won't work?

Here is the picture (the really small red writing says "all the way closed" So, if indeed that was the problem, this is how it is fixed: The little valve thing was tightened with a screwdriver. If anybody else ever has this same problem, I hope that this helps, and I hope that knowing...

Propane tank filled, now it won't work?

well, I guess I figured it out... I tightened that side valve thing with a screwdriver and hooked things back up and now it is working. So I guess that was the problem (?) Thanks, and hopefully I won't run into the same issue when I go to heat my sparge water.

Propane tank filled, now it won't work?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid problem, but I've always used charcoal for the BBQ and only recently started using propane for brewing and so I don't really know anything about using it. Here is the problem: I just had my tank refilled, and now when I attach it to my turkey fryer and open both...

Don't read if you are easily insulted or have a sense of humour - I mean it!

Finally a reasonable plan for the future. Oh, and for all of you that are afraid of Haggis - don't be. It tastes excellent, actually, and is far less questionable in its origins compared to, say, our ground beef. I mean, just because it is an amalgamation of weird animal parts doesn't mean...

    Help...bad beer?

Are you sure you didn't just miss the violent fermentation? I looks like a decent amount of yeast has flocculated to the bottom. How does it taste?

    Help...bad beer?

It doesn't look super abnormal to me; a bit more junk floating on top is all... The only way to know for sure if it is ready to bottle is by taking gravity readings.

I just hate it when that happens...

    Did I make near beer???

And i should mention that 1.036 is low, but it's not like impossibly low or anything... Might be good for those days when you just want to sit down and drink a couple dozen beers... I mean, I don't know exactly what the ABV of PBR is, but I'm guessing that it is somewhere near where your brew...

    Did I make near beer???

Hmmm... That is sounding a little strange. Have you been correcting for temperature with your hydrometer readings? Are you certain that there are no bubbles adhering to the sides of the hydrometer? Have you been topping up to way more than five gallons? Are you certain that your hydrometer...

    Did I make near beer???

I'm guessing that your beer is finished. 1.036 is a pretty low OG, and I wouldn't be surprised if it finished fermenting in just a couple of days. What was your recipe?

New from France but soon Canadian...

God, my French is...

    Amsterdam Breweries??

Your friend should go to Belgium if beer is of concern (and train tickets when I was last there were only like $60 return from Amsterdam central to Bruxelles Midi, and from there it is only a short commuter train ride to Bruges - the land of french fries and good beer). Frankly, while in...

    Best online ingredient source?

Yeah, Austin HB, Northern Brewer, morebeer.com (it bothers me that morebeer doesn't sell wyeast, though, and it seems like they have a poor selection of dry yeasts too) have all been good to me. I've never ordered from Williams, but I agree with Bird that most of their stuff seems overpriced...

    death by siphon, please help!

I'm not altogether sure that I understand your predicament... But if just getting the siphon going is your problem, you can always just suck on the end of it. Not super clean, but it's better than nothing. If you do, it might be a good idea to gargle with some high proof spirits or mouthwash...

first timer wants to make Ziegenbock

I'm afraid that I'm not familiar with the particular beer you are trying to clone, but my suggestion would be to just go on down to Austin Homebrew Supply and tell them what you want to make, I'm sure they'll put you on the right track (if the AHB store is anything like their online store, which...
