My single tier build "The Beer Machine"

This is amazing. I've been planning a single tier build and I may have to incorporate the 4th burner as well.

Help the kids, build a brew stand.

I think it sounds like a great opportunity for you and the student. After all, welding practice is welding practice, right? Why would it matter if the end product is used for beer?

    I'm in Love!

You might want too look into a Son of Fermentation box. You could copy the basic idea and then as an option make it so you could suck in cold outdoor air.

    I'm in Love!

Although I agree with you that temperature control is important and the schedule above would probably make one very good pilsner, by no means are all of those things necessary. I've brewed some pilsners, and I brew them with the seasons since my basement stays around 48 deg F in the winter...

    Anyone else's LHBS do this?

Very cool. I've heard of places doing that where you can "buy" a sack of grain. Wish I could do that at mine. Ie would be nice for specialty malts, especially if you could use it for multiple types.

    Buffalo NY group buy?

Syracuse buy is filling up quick with 50+ bags out of their 80+ goal. Better get orders in. (I'm one to talk. Still haven't put mine in.)

My Brew Stand and Fermentation Chamber Build

Anyone ever try using acetone around the coils? I know it melts foam, and I would think you would have a much lower risk of nicking a line. Obviously, this should be done out doors.

My Brew Stand and Fermentation Chamber Build

Thanks, I haven't bought the fridge yet, but I am keeping my eye out for one. I was just worried that it may not be usable if that temperature controller was cut. I am planning on using a separately purchased controller for more precise temperatures.

My Brew Stand and Fermentation Chamber Build

I've been looking at taking apart a mini fridge for a kegerator build. Were you able to keep the temperature control that came in the fridge intact?

    Buffalo NY group buy?

Sounds awesome. Let me know if you'll be doing it again and how much would be needed for the driver. I'll start putting together a little wish list for myself. Are you part of NAH or SOS? Or is there a third in the Buffalo area I'm not aware of?

    Do your wives get mad?

My wife loves that I brew. When we got married, I brewed up 20 gallons for our rehearsal dinner and she couldn't have been more excited. Although I will say she was quite excited when we bought our new house with a large garage since there wouldn't be any more wort burned into her stove. The...

    Infection Time

I have to agree with everyone else. Looks like a plane old uneventful fermentation.

    Show Us Your Label

I made a wildflower mead this summer and had one of my friends do a digital image for it. Here it is.

    Christmas Beer Lables 2011

Here's my holiday ale label. It is an Old Ale brewed with spices, dried raisin, dried cranberries and dried apples. Wish I could take credit for it but my friend drew it up for me.

"Big" Beer Brewers... gotta question for you!

As a side question, when I brew my mead, I keep my aquarium pump on it going until I've reached 2/3 of my OG (if my OG was 1.100, I would have it on there until 1.066). Typically this lasts about two or three days. Can this same idea be applied to big beers with success?

Brew Year Resolution - 2012 Brewing Goals

    1) Build single tier brew system 2) 100+ Gallons 3) Re-roof garage and build a door for it (It gets pretty cold in winter brewing in there) 4) Brew a sour beer

Printing at Kinkos; Sticking with Milk

Well I've been using my normal paper and a gluestick, but I would like to try this since my printer is an inkjet and if the labels get wet at all, the ink just runs. So, applying those with milk won't really turn out that great.

Printing at Kinkos; Sticking with Milk

This sounds interesting and I wouldn't mind trying it for my next batch. Does anyone have the specs on the paper they use? The nearest Kinkos is a half hour drive each way, but there is a UPS store in my town.
