    No One Knows the Answer

I did a little googling and found this: "DIAM® REF BEER is a technological closure with a patented composition, manufactured from cork, treated by the exclusive REVTECH process by DIAM Bouchage. REF beer is a consistent closure that offers excellent mechanical performance over time and enables...

    Fertilizer for hops

Have you had a soil test done? If not, do you know what soil in your area is like? I know my soil is naturally high in p and k. Using a balanced fertilizer would be a mistake for me. It might be right for you. In the absence of a soil test, the only nutrient I know the hops need is nitrogen.

Can it be Seen as Unprofessional to Brew Beer?

Do you live in Utah? I do, and wouldn't mention it in a job interview. But I travel a lot and when I'm in other states, it's usually a point of interest. Nothing more, nothing less.

Hops from a freezer unplugged for 9 months?

When I started reading your post, my reaction was that you should toss them. Then I saw the quantity. Smell them. If they smell good, use them. But, as @IslandLizard noted, you'll probably need to use more.

47 hops anyone order from them

Tell them about their mistake. I may be mistaken, but I think they're required to ship the correct item at no charge and you're not required to return the wrong item (long ago companies would run scams and ship incorrect merchandise to fraudulently pad sales).

I think they're hot, but you probably don't

Do you mean a 2? 1 in binary is 1. 2 in binary is 10.

transplant hops mid summer (in MN)

It should. Since it's summer, you may need to water more frequently while letting it get established. You don't want to overwater it, though. It's best to let the soil dry between waterings. I'd probably start with watering twice a week. If it looks like it's getting too dry, water more...

    Fertilizer for hops

I use ammonium sulfate (21-0-0). Hops benefit from plenty of N because they grow so fast. You don't want a lot of N as it gets closer to time for them to flower, though, because N promotes growth and not flowering.

transplant hops mid summer (in MN)

Summer in Minnesota? Is that Tuesday this year? If i were you, I'd dig up as much of the main plant as possible and plant in the new location. Tell the new owner about the hops. Let him/ her decide whether it's a good thing.

    Mash & Boil

One option is to brew smaller batches. I've been doing 5 gallon batches in mine, but I know there are people doing smaller batches.

    "you won't save money homebrewing"

I think we agree more than we disagree. I agree with you that one shouldn't get into the hobby to save money. But I tracked all of my costs (including shipping, taxes, etc). I also included things like my kegerator, co2 refills, equipment that I bought for brewing but ended up using more for...

    "you won't save money homebrewing"

I concede that I'm not including my time. I'm having fun brewing so I don't add the time as a cost.

    "you won't save money homebrewing"

It costs you $10/12 pack to make beer? That's almost $45 for a 5 gallon batch. There are probably kits in that range, but I make my own recipes. I also buy in bulk and grow my own hops. And I often reuse yeast. A 5 gallon batch usually costs me around $15-$20. I recently switched from partial...

    Hops Shelve Life

Is it just airtight or are you also vacuum sealing it? If you're just putting it in an airtight container like a zip lock bag or a plastic tub with a lid, it won't last as long as if you vacuum seal it. If you're growing hops (or buying in bulk), a vacuum sealer is definitely worth the money. I...

Portable Vacuum Sealer Bags Losing Seal? (Hops)

You remember correctly. For hops, I start with a bag that is bigger than I need to give some room. If it gets too small, I split the hops and use another bag.

    A homemade yogurt thread

I thought that the reason to heat the milk before inoculation is that heating it changed something in the proteins. I've never added sugar, but I like tart/sour flavors.
