I use sprite bottles all the time I have some beer in several right now. I reuse the caps as well. They seam to work just fine for me. I like the little 12oz-ers.

Don't put anything that is aluminum in the dishwasher it will have the same effect.

I would not. there is a clear coat on "aluminium" that protects the pot from leaching into what ever is put into it. Aluminum is a very pore's and soft metal. when you heat it up it will transfer bits of aluminum into into your beer and will stick in your upper intestine.

Good luck with your beer and I would not use aluminum that is oxidized. I put a meat grinder in the dish washer one time and that was a $200 mess up.
